wow….
that is one real nice piece of ink you got there, when its healed you will not get the glare from the flash when you take a picture of it..
i think it was a good choice you made, congrats on getting it done, and thanks for coming back in and posting it up for us to see 😉
That is a really great piece of ink.
Looking forward to seeing it when it is healed up.
Take Care

Looks like I am already starting to shed, is that normal for a tattoo that is only 5 days old?
I applied some oinment earlier, making sure to avoid rubbing the skin and found a half-inch piece of skin with black outlining on my finger afterwards. YIKES!
Looking at the tatt using two mirrors I can’t find anything missing though so I hope it’s OK.
I don’t think you should be worried.
My tattoo was done on a saturday, by sundaynight there were already loads of crusts on the black bits, that began to come off on tuesday. Wednesday morning, my shower was full of pieces of black skin, and all the remaining crusts were gone by that evening. By friday of that week, my skin was almost entirely smooth, only here and there you could feel some difference in the texture. All this time, I couldn’t notice any changings in color or intensity of color.
So I don’t think the shedding will affect the beauty of your tattoo:). It simply means your skin heals quickly naturally…
Thanks for your “timeline” I was worried whether it was a bit much too soon.
As I do not have an all-black tattoo I find that especially the red parts tens to turn extremely dull over time but brighten back up once I put oinment on them again. Doesn’t keep me from thinking “Lord I’ll need to get that redone” every time anyway.
The fishie currently has a large black line on his back, a scab that kinda ended up there but I do not feel like damaging the blue by trying too hard to remove it. It’ll come off eventually.
Gaaah, I’m itching!
need some help with a question. have a mikd form of back acne that comes and goes. Got an appointment in 2 weeks for a shoulder to shoulder tattoo. Am i straight or should i change the location. Thanks.
Putting on some very greasy bodycream can help with that, at least it did with me.
Hi!
I shouldn’t change the location of your tattoo because of acne – it comes and goes, and when it comes to tattoo’s – something for the rest of your life – it should be what you really really want. As little compromise as possible! So I’d say discuss it with your artist first, and if it would appear to be a problem, try to work on the acne first, then the tattoo… Just my 2 cents:)
Only a few scabs left, most of the tattoo is now clear. I am convinced a bit of the red area (where he accidentally shaved off a slight spot) needs redone. The scab came off when I took off my cardi. Bummer!
Other than that it’s looking good.
4 months later: No toch-ups were required and everything has healed nicely. Phew!
Started a new job last week and since we have a business casual dress code now (except for dress-down Fridays and Saturdays) my tattoo remained undetected until yesterday. When I put on that jumper on Friday I didn’t even notice that parts of my fishie’s fins peeked out before my new co-worker decided to have a peek. Similar invasions of my personal bubble occurred that day and much fun was had partly undressing me. I love my co-workers!
A few weeks prior some of my friends and now former teammates went to a pub. I was chatting with one of my friends outside having a smoke when he suddenly said “That’s a fighting fish, mate!”
I turned around to see a random guy who must have spent some time squinting at my badly illuminated back for a while before my friend decided to enlighten him, lol!
It’s nice to see another person from Belfast in here 🙂
Guessing from your artists name, (Shane) you went to Skinworks in the city center? That’s where I had my sleeve done by Keith. Shane is really cool, I would like to get tattooed by him. All the artists in there are really down to earth and won’t try to fleece you out of money. I even tried to tip Keith and he politely declined, he did take a £20 tip the first session though lol.

Hahaha the internet is really a village! Yup, Skinworks, but it was actually Jinx who did my tattoo, Shane was in the next “cubicle” doing a cover-up. Shane was the guy originally recommended to me by a friend but he had no portfolio online and I liked Jinx’s stuff so I settled for him instead. Maybe Shane will do my next one, we’ll see.
It did take some effort to persuade Jiinx to take my tip as well!
Current state of the betta after over half a year. Might be interesting for the noobs who are afraid of coloured stuff fading or blurring quickly:
Mind you, I don’t tend to run around in short sleeves outside anyway, so the tattoo has seen hardly any sunlight.
