In some ways, a fandom is like a secret club that you can only join by being obsessed about a specific thing. Whether it be art, movies, or even music. Fandoms are everywhere, you just need to know what to the lookout to identify them. People often get tattoos related to things that they’re a fan of, and in this post, we’re going to go over some of the times when fandoms took it too far with their ink.
Fandoms are usually associated with being very defensive or aggressive to those who disrespect what they are a fan of, they are a tightly knit community of people who may do almost anything to represent what they love, even if that includes getting a tattoo.
In the fangdom
The Twilight series was a controversial fandom, back when the original film was released in 2008. There was an instant backlash against the series due to the teenage rom-com vampire storyline. The film about teenage vampires took the world by storm and a trilogy of films was created. It divided audiences with those loving the films and gathered plenty of ‘haters’.
Introducing Cathy Ward the Twilight superfan! Who had recently lost weight when she decided to reward herself for her personal change. This reward was this full back piece featuring characters from the Twilight film. The back piece is insanely detailed, all of the characters really do resemble the actual actors who portrayed them, the detail even extends to the trees and flowers in the background and foreground. The only question we can ask is; why Twilight specifically? Each to their own, but this is a Twilight superfan took her obsession to the next level.
Voldermort strikes again
The Harry Potter took the early 2000’s by storm, with 8 movies that spanned between the years of 2001 to 2011 and even remains a huge cult following today with recently released prequel series titled ‘Fantastic Beasts’.
This tattoo sleeve takes fandom to another level, this tattoo is placed on a man’s head and the tattoo is of Lord Voldemort. Whatever went through his head is unknown, but it’s clear that Lord Voldemort has had some sort of impact on his life. This is an extreme place to be tattooed, to begin with, but each to their own.
Star Wars Fanatic
Star Wars has a massive cult following and it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t know what Star Wars is. This year the new trilogy of films is about to conclude. Pathing the way for more Disney produced Star Wars content such as TV programmes. This chest piece spans almost all of the upper chest. It features insane depicts of Emporer Palpatine, Darth Vader, and a famous Lightsaber battle between Luke and Vader. This entire tattoo looks incredibly realistic and almost just like a real photo. This is the type of tattoo a true star wars and beloved empire fans!
A true Belieber
Justin Bieber is a famous pop star who was brought into mainstream media when he was around 16 years old in 2009. Following his hit songs such as ‘Baby’ and ‘Sorry’ the star has gone through many different changes in his life. This tattoo shows Bieber aged around 17 with his iconic side-swept haircut. Undoubtedly, this is the type of tattoo that isn’t going to age well. Only a superfan would even consider this tattoo. This tattoo is an image of Justin during the early days of his career. It’s obvious that Justin has gone through a lot of chance since this photo.
