Here’s a funny scenario. You turn on the tv & desire to be entertained with a little Hip Hop. You know….something to make you wanna bounce or set the mood. You turn to BET and you see booty. You flip to MTV and you see even more booty, but this time, the lame chick is standing in front of a Benz. In the midst of all the raunchiness, you might catch a glimpse of the “MC’s” grill. What are my choices? Am I going to learn how to “Walk it Out”, make “Chicken Noodle Soup” or “Peanut Butter & Jelly” sandwiches? Hmmm, very mentally stimulating, huh? But hey, that’s hip hop, right? So sad…….
Today’s so-called artists are good at marketing b.s. materialism and a** shaking. KRS One once said, “If you’re a rapper, sell lyrics, if you’re a ho, sell sex.” It seems these rappers have it all wrong, they are the hoes.
The music is no longer about creativity, expression and fun. It’s about acting like you’re pissed off all the time and being FAKE. The break dancers and graffiti artists at least have retained some of the original spirit… of course there’s not much money in that, so that might be why.
It’s all a commerialized package these days where one rapper gets a deal with a quick catchy song. Soon thereafter, he’s created his own record label, brings his homeys on the label, and multiplies the garbage. That’s a quick recipe for disaster, but it sells right? All you need is a hard beat and a recycled nursery rhyme (Eeny Meeny Miny Mo….how many b****** in the club wanna go? I knoooow you see it).
In the midst of all the garbage, there’s some light at the end of the rainbow. You still have good quality artists out there like Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Jay-Z, The Game, T.I., Missy Elliott, Da Brat, Common, Twista, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, etc. It’s all up to us whether this garbage on the radio will survive ladies & gentlemen. Support real hip hop and let’s make booty-shakin’, grill showin’, candy paint crap a thing of the past. If you don’t the ghost of Mike Jones will haunt your kids. I said, if you don’t the ghost of Mike Jones will haunt your kids (lol).
those songs r soo not ridiculous
Because that is the kind of crap that people want to hear. The more people accept it. The more people are going to create crap like that. I just stay away from rap, because it is crap. The things they talk about builds self confidence in the weak, that is why so many people listen to it and try to embrace it in their everyday life. It’s funny, but i just sit back and laugh at the people who are so infatuated by the crap music.
Internationally it is not listened to the same way that it is in the US, it is strictly for dance purposes, which some people do look at it that way in the US, but I would say more are twisted by it.
Because they’re running out of new songs for this style. Until someone creates a new form of rap it is only going to get worse.
I think it’s just designed for pure entertainment, nothing meaningful… except for a couple of rappers ’cause I love Sage Francis and nothing he makes is ridiculous to me. =D
I thought you were referring to violent lyrics. Those songs that you just mentioned are selling records. These days people will rap about anything that sells…which isn’t always right.
Umm….Fergie….enough said.
Rap makes top 40 now, so by women flaunting and protruding their goods on TV seems like a good thing, look at what rap music does to women…..
If an artist wants to name himself P noodle, who cares, but he probably has tons of women in their thongs dancing on his video, and that makes him hot, right? LOL…..that carries over into the top 40, so that women dancing in their thongs or wrestling in wedding cake seem to make top 40 every time.
Sex is such a gimmick. Who cares if they sing a rhyme about fitness……They show enough to get them blocked by web censors….who complains, the kids, so their parents let them see it.
It’s the public’s fault that kind of thing is actually on the air. If the parents had any responsibility, they would have done something by now…..
they ran out of ideas, anyways, it was ridiculous when it started.
