I don’t think hip hop is dead. We’re just in need of a revolution.. or for rappers to come up with fresher ideas, than banging a woman’s ass, and flaunting all that money that’s borrowed anyway.

Look at people like Common, and Mos Def. They don’t talk about issues like all that stuff thats spitting on the radio. They tackle real issues, as well, and they speak from the heart, which is all that matters. Lupe Fiasco is another that’s helping to revolutionize hip hop.

Don’t forget, you have greats like Jay Z, Nas, and Andre 3000 that keeps things fresh, and different. (Even if Jay did talk about his money a lot.. it doesn’t matter, he earned it!)

I think hip hop needs to look at not just one perspective and stick with it. It seems like they found a formula to make money, and they sticking with it. And that sucks, because that just limits hip hop, when its supposed to be universal. Putting it in a box, like all that stuff some new ‘rappers/synthesized singers’ are doing, and categorizing it as hip hop is just pathetic.

But this is just my opinion. And I’m entitled to it.

To answer your question, its not dead. It just needs a serious revamp. And its not just up to Kanye to save hip hop.

I dont think hip hop is dead… however it is very hard to find. Mainstream hip hop is definetly dead, back in the day the best hip hop was mainstream hip hop, now hip hop is too commercial and fake. But if u search for hip hop, it is alive!
