well it all depends where on the back of your neck and how big you want the tattoo to be. most people like it near their ears and chinese characters appear often but if you feel connected to that character then why not. I will probably at one point of my life get a chinese character to symbolize the time i spent living in china. but if you just at the moment thought the character for love is pretty and you want it you may not like it when you are older. I suggest getting a tattoo that has meaning. people with neck tattoos are often looked down apon though because it looks like a prison or a gang tattoo. so get it at your own risk.

it doesnt matter what other people think. if you like the look of the chinese symbol (most likely a kanji) and it means something to u then go for it. Trust me the pain is nothing, and its worth it just to know that its there, that you have something so meaningful and beautiful on you.

    good luck. 🙂

DO what you want ot do. Its your body and you have to life with it. The back of the neck is nothin. I have a detailed flower on the back of my neck and I didn’t even feel it really.

Take my advice and put the money you’d pay for the tattoo in an interest bearing bank account. Years later when your friends are telling you how dumb they were to get a tattoo, you can check the balance of that account and pat yourself on the back. I’m talking from experience as I’m one of the dummies who allowed myself to get marked up with something I was to carry the rest of my life.

Don’t get a tattoo hun. May I remind you that once you get old and wrinkly the tattoo will start looking gross on you and that the removal of it would cost alot?

BUT.If you really want to do this, for the meaning of the tattoo, and not how GOOD it looks, do it. =) Better yet, if you want to remember your little love symbol forever…… put it somewhere where you can see it yourself. Unless, it’s a message for somebody else -winkwink-

I have a very datailed red eyed tree frog on the back of my neck, and LOVE it!! I think it was the easiest tat I have ever gotten!! As for the symbol, be careful!! They can put anything on you if you can’t tell what it means!! My friend has kanji on her lower back. She wanted “earth angel” and was told years later it really says “exit only”!! Which is funny, but NOT what she wanted!!

In my opinion chinese symbols were too overused years ago so they look out of fashion (asuming that fashion ever existed…). I think that there are other symbols that represent love without having to write the word in an specific language.

However, do as you wish, it’s your body so you should put in it whatever you most like.

Chinese symbols are overrated… besides, you need to make sure you know that’s really what it means.

I have “Fear No Man” on my back in kanji. Turns out a Chinese guy saw it and it says “Coffin Dealer” – no sh*t. 🙁 I think the translation got lost like funeral man or something.

Get it in a language that you can understand – through a picture, design, special symbol.

And make sure you take good care of it once you get it – check this out: http://www.helium.com/tm/714628/taking-tattoo-important-affect

Back of the neck is great – it won’t hurt that much. At least mine didn’t. I have 11 tatts.

i heard it hurts. but it’s bearable. i think if you want a chinese symbol, then go for it! who cares what others think if it’s “ugly” or “over rated.” everyone told me that “tramp stamps” are over rated, but i don’t care. people are just immature, and try to make you to chance your deccision. do what YOU want, and NO ONE else.
