It seems whenever the weather changes (summer to fall and winter to spring) one of the tattoos on my leg breaks out into little itchy mountain ranges. The tattoo is a year old.

It is only on the red stripes on the mantle of the cuttlefish, and in a two-inch area near where the mantle meets the head. I’ve read up on red ink allergies, but from all the pictures I’ve seen and anecdotes I’ve read, the reactions are much, much worse. I’ve talked to my artist and he said it happens to one of his tattoos when it gets humid.

What can I do to quell the itching? I don’t mind the bumps, they don’t affect the tattoo at all, it’s just the itching that I can’t stand!

treat the itching as if it were healing, try not to scratch it directly, although as its not fresh, your chances of removing ink are slim, i’ve a similar reaction with my red’s in my tattoo’s, i find slapping it gently helps, cold surfaces, and the moisturiser helps sooth it too.
other than that, i haven’t found anything to help the itching.
