So originally I got a tattoo that wasn’t appropriate. (I wasn’t…..in the right state of mind)
So now I got a larger tat to cover it up but it seems to be healing horrendously. I do exactly what my artist told me. Start with A and D for the first 2 days.
Its a very solid, bold design btw – a lot of ink involved.
After applying A and D for the first time (yes as little as I could) it looked like a mix of blood and was seeping out. I went back and now they tell me to forget that and switch to lubriderm only 2 or 3 times a day. Ok I can do that easy peasy.
Now my tat is scabbing horribly. mountainous scabs. People I’ve asked tell me now not to use anything until the scabs have gone. Nothing looks infected yet. just a lot of scabbing.
Since it’s too late to properly prevent the scabbing, what’s my next step typically to combat the scabbing so I can get on with properly moisturizing my new tattoo?
thanks for reading.
edit: ask any questions, as I’ll surely be reading your responses.
if I happen to get my hands on the camera I’ll get a picture in here.
hey
welcome to the forums
I think a lot of scabbing is to be expected when you have large areas of block colour.
whatr did your artist have to say about it? also is your artist a long established or a fairly new starter? i believe that technique can have quite an effect on how muich you will scab
also what was your tattoo before? something inappropriate sounds like a great picture to me.
lets see what it was 🙂
well I wasn’t able to show him personally as he’s off on some vacation but the artists at the same shop told me to discontinue any treatment cept gentle water/antibacterial wash until most of the scab has gone. (2 – 3 times a day)
it was originally this ozzy figure

andI covered that up with the Dark side of the moon prism (just the triangle part of it as of now)

I was amazed when it was finished but damn has it scabbed up. Again I’ll try to get some actual pictures up also. Thanks
Also would it be a good idea to occasionally use neosporin spray on it – as some tell me the more gnarly tattoos are more likely to be infected.
would neosporin do the job of sterilizing the area without causing anything major to the scabbing?
Hi my tattoo has done the same thing and i have turn to the web to find answers. I was woundering how your tattoo has turned out
