    Hi,

I want to get a tattoo in the future, but have had a problem with staph infections for a while now. I have been clear for about 5 months (ever since I got done with training at Ft. Lee), my doctor told me to wait til I have been clear for 12 months before considering a tattoo.

My question for the artists is what kinds of precautions should I take? Would you feel comfortable tattooing someone with my faulty immune system? Are there any kinds of products or cleansers (like Hibiclense) that I should use before and after the tattoo to decrease the risk of getting a new infection and ruining the artwork?

It’s a touchy subject, please don’t feel like you have worry about hurting my feelings. ^_^

    Thanks for the advice!

I haven’t had any infections for a good 5 months now. I’m extra careful whenever I shave cuz that seems to set it off and reintroduces the bacteria. I kinda feel like a dork, but I end up using the hibiclens every time I shave now to prevent any infection before it starts! lol

My fiance has 7 tattoos and I’m excited about getting my first one — even though I hate needles :p

I figure winter isn’t the best time for me, especially with traveling and being around all sorts of people at the airports, don’t need to tax my immune system anymore ^_^
