Hey guys. I am new to the forum, and have seen theres some really awesome stuff on here.
I’ve recently been asked to design a few tattoo’s for people on PAPER, for them to take to the tattoo artist. The one I am working on at the moment is a request for a full sleeve collage of some of my previous sketches combined with random skulls. I am not sure if I should draw it as a full picture to have the tattoo artist wrap around his arm, or give him portions, and let the artist fill in the gaps to form a sleeve?
Here is an example of one of my ROUGH sketches that he wanted included on the sleeve.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
Really it depends on the artist. If the artist is really good at freehand, then sure give him/her pieces of the design to place where they want then fill in the empty space or you could just make a collage to be safe. I’d make the collage personally because either way, the artist can either cut it out how he/she sees fit or leave as is. Hope that helped you answer your question…. and welcome to the forum. 🙂
By the way kick ass drawing.
When working a full sleeve in one plan it is much easier to take the individuals master plans (main sections)and place them where appropriate and where they work, linking them up with background is easy. Not all pieces will work where you want them to so a bit of jb is always needed. By all means take the whole idea down as one work but it will be pulled apart, without a doubt. By pulled apart he will only transfer the master work, nice for him to get an idea what you have in mind for the background though.
I don’t think you do but if you meant put the entire sleeve transfer on in one go, thats not gunna work. In my experience anyway, 2 or 3 sections can work well but never all in one, not hat that makes any difference.
Oh yes good points, thank you so much both of you.
Hi again.
I have a few designs draw in different styles and with different mediums. Out of these pictures, which style of piictures would be easy for a tattoo artist to tattoo without changeing too much?
Thanks !
