    – Love tattoos

    – Passive

    – Hate tattoos

What percentage would you say make up each segment? I know it’s going to differ depending on location.
My guess, for here in Britain, would be 50% passive and 25% love and hate. Pure guess.

Just got wondering… was watching dragons den earlier and a woman came on with some tattoo removal business, and her opening line was something like ‘we all have our opinions of tattoos, but i think i can safely say most of us HATE them’ (fucking snob!), and went on to show the dragons a pic of a sleeve and they were all like, ewww how disgusting etc. Her condescending tone irritated me haha, and got me wondering what portion of society do HATE tattoos, I would never have guessed most anyway!
(good news is she didn’t get an investment :-))

I think society accepts them more these days, ive had tattoos for many years (god without trying to sound so fucking old) but anyhu, i used to get stared at alot and old ladies would think i was gunna steal their handbag, here in New Zealand we’re a heavily populated tattooed society, its just everywhere, but in saying that there’s still alot of folk that will look at you sideways now. And i can still get from the old dears, “You’re such a pretty girl what did you do that to yourself for ?” lol…. then another friend from Slovakia who views tattoos as a form of self harm LMAO:D

I think it depends on where you live and the age group you are dealing with. I live in St. Louis, MO in the states which is a liberal bubble in a very conserviative state. Around here most people over 50 associate tattoos with trailer trash and bikers but under 50 well….. we all have them. I swim at my gym and I would say that at least 80% of the guys that are under 50 have them. And this is a very affluent neighborhood in the greater St. Louis area. Also we have a gazillion tattoo studios and they are always crowded with people of every age and type. Tattoo are definitely becoming much more accepted then they were just a few years ago, at least in my neck of the US.

Pick a generation, socioeconomic group/class, and gender. Then we’ll see. The views on tattoos range drastically from one person to the next depending on their up bringing and location.

In my utmost opinion, once Gen ME/Baby Boom dies out (to be brutally honest) tattoos will be far more accepted. This generation associates the idea of ink as a negative connotation with prison and the like.

Gen X and Y are far more open-minded and willing to look deeper than skin. No pun intended. Hehehe…
