I am looking to get a tattoo (probably on my forearm) of a phrase/quote that relates to family. I have searched the net for ages but haven’t really found anything that I like enough to get tattood. My first thought is something Biblical but am open to suggestions.
Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Dave
My advice is to think what is it you love about family best?
Once you have that the quote will come to you with no issue – once you see/hear/read it you will know it is right for you.
I am also happy to help you with any biblical quotes or passages once you know what it is you are wanting encapsulise.
Good Luck
Matthew
My baby is due in a few weeks and I want something to symbolise the love I have for my child and partner….
Hi
Just throwing a few out there;
Chinese Proverb:
One generation plants the trees; another gets the shade.
William Shakespeare:
It is a wise father that knows his own child. (It means in spirit and heart).
Hebrew Proverb:
The melding of two hearts has brought forth this precious life.
James 1:17 – Every good and perfect gift is from above….
Song of Solomon 8:7 – Many waters cannot quench love; rivers cannot wash it away. If one were to give all the wealth of his house for love, it would be utterly scorned.
Colossians 3:14 – And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
Hope these help.
Matthew
Hi Matthew, you certainly know your stuff. Some of them are really what I am looking for, especially the Hebrew proverb. Can you recommend any places from where I can gain more information? (Apart from reading the whole Bible, haha)
Thank you for your help so far.
Hi DJN
Well to be honest I have a passion for tattoos and keep a set of books (including the bibles) to hand. 🙂
This is so I can try and get inspired for new ink or to help out.
The easiest place to look is the internet – if you type in something like bibilical quotes for family or children they can do a speedy search. I would recommend that if you do go for bibilical that you check the passage in a bible as they do vary (slightly) according to edition.
Alternatively I would suggest the library and borrow a book on proverbs and cultures and see if anything inspires you.
The best way is or you to put your thoughts down on paper and with your partner decide on a phrase that means something special to you both.
As an example I have one which reads ‘Our love has neither bent nor broken, but has become a rock on which we both find strength.’
Because it is a personal tattoo I keep it covered and only my wife for the most part sees it – because it is something we both share.
I think it is a great thing that you are having a baby and wish you all great wealth and blessings.
All the best
Matthew
Thanks for all your help mate, this is greatly appreciated. It is always good to speak to somebody who has a love for something and a lot of knowledge.
I will have a look on the net again and pop to the library to see what I can find. I want something that my partner likes aswell. Also something our child will like when grown up and know why I had it done.
Thanks again.
