Last monday on a whim, I decided to get some snake bite piercings while I was back in my hometown. (LA area in CA, and I go to School in the Bay)

Well, last night, as I was cleaning it, the hoop on the left piercing went all the way through… but here comes the problem… the metal ball you screw on maybe stuck inside of my lip with no hoop attached!

Squeezing my lip I definitely feel a small ball inside but I decided to call local tattoo shop in Hayward to see what they thought about it? The woman sounded very professional and asked if I knew for sure it was the ball or scar tissue and I said I didn’t know. Tomorrow I have an appointment with her and she will see what is for sure.

Now, If it is the ball, is it a problem medically if it is stuck? and If so how would I go at getting it removed? Would it be possible to do by myself or would I need a doctor?

(I’m trying my best not to freak out over this by the way :o)

Thanks a lot in advanced 🙂

    Ok

Proper thing is not to panic. Keep it sterile.

Basically if it is a foreign body stuck in the flesh you need a Dr to get it out with some tweezers. I would not suggest doing this yourself unless you want a nice cross- infection to go with it.

At worst they will make a very small incision and remove it – nothing worse than a shaving cut maybe a couple of stitches.

If it is stuck then don’t try and dislodge it because you could trap it further. In fact I would get my arse to the med centre asap rather than have somebody else who aint a medical professional mess with it.

Let us know how you go on.

I just came back from the shop and she assures me its scar tissue and I’ve never been happier 🙂

She explained how the scar tissue will stay there forever but itd just get smaller and smaller.

    Damn both sound real painful.

I am glad it is only scar tissue – I was chatting with my mate who is a junior Dr and he was telling me (with relish the sicko) the number of horror embedded/torn/stuck piercings he has had to deal with.

He actually said that the most common one is the labret piercings that have gone wrong and one or two prince alberts 😮

I am pleased you got it sorted was wondering how you got on.

    Take care

i have to say that i have never seen a ball get stuck inside skin.

its pretty hard to pull through a 4 or 5mm ball when the hole is only 1.6mm

Izarra how did you managhe to do that? did you have a really small ball on the labret or something?

Yep it was one of those ones that are flat and clip on to the bar, id put it in to see if i liked it, and i didnt lol, then couldnt unclip the damn thing and with the force of one hand inside my lip and one on the top thru she went. Hurt like a bastard!!!

    Hi Sickone

I am guessing it would be something along the lines of this

    http://www.painfulpleasures.com/body_jewelry/gallery/Labrets/Titanium/custom_internal_diamond_labret.jpg

Not so hard to pull through with force but I sure as hell wouldn’t have been smiling if it had been me – poor Izarra!

    Matthew

PS that is just an example you can get tiny ones of that style.

Nah it wasnt one of those, but similar, the bar and base part were in one and the little top bit just clicked on, thats why when i tryed to click it off i had hold of the base inside my lip and was trying to get off the force pulled the whole thing through!. Looked fukn ugly anyway lol. Looked like a pimple 🙁

lol, yeah i bite the base and twist less stress, the correct way if you have issues is to go buy a rubber coated hemo, push the base with your tongue to exposes extrashaft space near the ball and clip and hold and twist it off. That shit had to hurt lick a motherfucker. I thought that what you were talking about but when you say “click” it throws me off.

P.S. Fuck painful pleaseures, they are support a guy who is ripping off an idea that was made by my piercers boss (MDA stuff)

    Hi

To be honest I have no idea with regards to painfulpleasures. It was just an image i used from google as I thought it was the style that had been used.

My interest is primarily in tattooing and not piercings so I have a scant knowledge of the history behind the designs of the studs etc used.

    Take Care

piercing heal better when a straight shaft is used in general. Thats not saying that curved don’t or won’t heal right but it’s really a preference thing.

I know what the OP is talking about when referring to what felt like the ball stuck under the skin. When I was high school I drove a ’65 Ranchero without seatbelts. One morning I hit the bank and ate the steering wheel. My top teeth went through my bottom lip and split it down to my jaw bone. The scar tissue feels like lots of hard little balls in my lip and they’ve never really gone away. I’m glad that yours was just scar tissue as well.
