For the final in my Methods and Concepts class, the ever insane Ryan Mulligan decided we had to create and wear a superhero costume and parade it around campus.

This little guy is Krackish, The Demon of the Deep, who rose from the Marianas Trench after a death metal band rocked simply too hard on a Carnival Cruise Line. Now Krakish terrorizes the deeps, crossing tentacles with the likes of Black Manta, Aquaman, and the Yellow Pisces (the most stripperrffic superhero presented today).

Sadly, Krackish’s body is supported by a series of fluid filled bladders which deflate out of water, rendering it totally harmless out of its natural environment.

But underwater, it’ll fuck you up.

The hardest part of putting this bastard together was doing it in the 48 hours following my return from my week in New York City. No time plus severe sleep deprivation = I can’t believe it doesn’t suck.

Krackish’s head is a chicken wire frame skinned with an old inner tube. His eyes are spotlight lightbubls painted to look like eyes, and those bastards light up for all 250 watts worth…for about five seconds. You have NO idea how hot that helmet is with those things on.

The tentacles are also hollow chicken wire frames skinned with innertube. The sucker pads are made out of a bath mat. You can’t see it under my cape, but there’s a square support frame made out of pcv pipe duct tapped to me which supports the tentacles.

The pants are sweats with more inner tube hot glued on there. The body and the arms I’m really freakin proud of–they’re just spray painted garbage bags. Took literally five mins, and you’d never guess would you?

The gloves are in the same ball park. Bought a pair of SERIOUS dish washing gloves and spray painted the bastards.

As for the paint job, it was a two tiered process. First I laid down a dark, dark green. Then I sprayed on a light, sickly green. This two tiered paint job is what gave Krackish his distinctive color scheme.

Out of the 70+ heros and villains presented, 7 were chosen to be professionally photographed and put up on my art collage’s website next month. They were also interviewed afterwards.

Krackish, with me under him, was one of those selected. ๐Ÿ˜€

I am not half as talented or creative as most of my classmates. I have to work three times as hard to get half the result.

Which makes kicking the EVER LOVING SHIT out of them on a regular basis all the more sastisfying.

    Love. Peace. Metallica.
