So I got this Ambigram tattoo about last Novemeber. The artist claimed he been doing tats for 20 + years. So after I get my tattoo done, all I see is imperfect lines, some not al the way shaded in and a circle curve thats crooked. On top of that there are three dots in the middle of the tattoo that aren’t suppose to be there . I still haven’t went back to get my touch up but I recently saw his custom work and notice they were average. So I’m planning on going to a different shop that is popular, one reasons I didn’t go there in the first place was because distance of location.

So what I need help is to ask you guys is it possible to fix the lines and the imperfection. Also I would also like to get something added to the tattoo to make it stand out more, maybe some more script or a design with the piece. I need suggestions, and what I’m into is family type of symbols. But just throw me some ideas

    It says Respect, Family

    Hi Voph

Yes it can be fixed and no it won’t be cheap as justa touch-up I am sorry to say. 🙁
The whole thing is going to need a full body rework and reshade to straighten out the lines.

First of all the lines will need boldening so that it can be straightened out without looking lop-sided – this is not such a hard thing to do.

Then I would suggest some white highlights in the dots to make it look like it is more part of the tattoo.

I would also suggest some drop or smoke shading weaving through the letters or surrounding the text.

It is not so bad and will look much better with a rework.

Thanks Sherav, you think you can show me an example of some drop or smoke shading weaving through the letters or surrounding the text? Sorry to be a bother I just really need some ideas on it.

    Hi

Just a couple of links to give you an idea of different types of text tattoos which have highlights and/or smoke shading

Drop shading is where you can have the letter bolded but slowly fading into clear skin or like a mirror effect below or behind the letters.

(The links are just ones I keep as examples I am not promoting content)

After I touch up the ambigram, I was thinking of getting Wings added on to it somehow.

    A rough draft

    Hi

If placed and shaded properly i think it would make an excellent addition to your tattoo.

I would if you can stand the sitting get it all done as one piece as that way the artist can get it shaped up nicely and add the wings at the same sitting.

Will also make you feel better about the tattoo.

    Take care
