I am soon getting a new tattoo on my upper back, where I use Benzoyl Peroxide 2,5 % in the morning at in the evening..

    1) Should I stop using the Benzoyl Peroxide 2 days before getting the tattoo ? – (so my skin is not containing the Benzoyl Peroxide)

    2) And how fast will the Benzoyl Peroxide get out of ones skin ?

    3) Will Benzoyl Peroxide make my skin a bad consumer of the tattoo ink?

    Hi

I looked over a manufacturer of Benzoyl Peroxide and I take it you are using it as an antibacterial agent rather than for bleaching flour 😉

The manufacturer was a little vague on tattoos but my basic chemistry knowledge would suggest that as well as containing anti-bacterial Benzoyl Peroxide can lift dirt out of the pores and can be an irritant to sensitive skin as slightly abrasive. That is why you shouldnt use sun beds with it as it thins the top layers of the sin,

I would think it would be safe on healed tattoos but should be used with caution (if at all) on the area you are getting tattooed until it is healed.

Personally I would avoid it for at least the first 3-4 days to give the ink time to seal in and use another antiseptic – as Benzoyl Peroxide can be very tough on cuts.

Also it stings like a bastard.

My research shows very much mixed opinion on the stuff but that is mainly because the reactions ppl have to the chemical are so varied.

Overall you should be fine and just follow the aftercare from your artist or the ones posted up on here.

    Take Care
    Matthew
