i’m getting my tattoo on the 16th…and now the panic sets in lol. hope i’ll be able to sit for a few hours on my ribs eeek! my artist is going to combine the 2 sketches and put the yamaha symbol like in the back with the points coming out, to add depth and to keep from having to make it huge so the little lines don’t bleed together in a few years and maybe put some smoke in the background with all the suits of the cards in the smoke, if that makes sense. i’m pretty excited to see the final sketch and also a bit nervous, i hope it is not too too masculine but i think i’ll be okay. now i just have to get over the constant thoughts of crying and not being able to get through it! he says about 2 hours, give or take depending on how big we end up going.
Don’t sweat it too much–I always get a bit antsy before getting a new piece of ink and it ain’t never as bad as I think it’s going to be. Same applies here. The psych out will most likely be worse than the pain.
As for the masculine part, I assume the means you’re a chick. Which means you have boobs. And that to show off a rib piece, at least some side-boobage will be visible. It think you’ll be okay as long as it isn’t a Dong riding a skateboard smoking a bong.

Nerves are always there before some new ink – even body suit vets get excited before they have another section done.
If I can handle a tattoo anybody can – you will be fine once you get over the intial 5-15 mins.
As for the breast thing I have spoken with many an artist about this – they (as a rule) simply don’t notice/care because all they are interested in is getting the ink into the skin correctly.
I guess it is like a Dr or surgeon working on the body – just a piece of flesh that they need to complete a job on.
From my own experience I feel the same way about it – I am interested in the ink not where it is.
Good luck and plenty of carbs before you begin and a fizzy drink whilst getting done.

Actually, my point was that when you show it off, your boob will most likely be at least a little visible, so even if it IS masculine, your boob will offset it enough to make it feminine.
Unless, again, it’s a Dick riding a skateboard smoking a bong. There is no way to girlify that one.

lmao, its def not a dick on a skateboard! its a 4 leaf clover, cards, dice, yamaha logo and some smoke in the back…i’ve never seen a girl with a gambling-ish tattoo but its a memorial so if its manly i guess its okay since its for a guy (and since my boob will off set it;) ) i’m glad its pretty normal to get nervous/excited even for people with lots of ink. i’m hoping i can be tough for 2 hours, think i’ll be pretty ashamed if i can’t sit through that! carbs like pasta type stuff? is the fizzy drink soda to keep blood sugar up? oh can i drink the night before or how long w/ no alcohol for it to be okay? i’m really not an alcoholic lol i just usually drink on the weekends and my appt is on saturday!
I would feel okay about drinking the night before, just don’t drink any that day so it has time to get out of your blood stream. Alcohol makes your blood thinner and you will bleed more.
The carbs and fizzy drink thing is to keep your energy up so you won’t pass out. 😮 Don’t let that scare you, you probably wouldn’t anyway, but it is just a precaution.
I don’t want to freak you out, because it’s not as big a deal as honest language makes it out to be, but tattoos are a fairly sizable trauma for your body. The bigger the tattoo, the more trauma you go through, and your body tends to go into a very, very mild form of shock. The fizzy drink, or as we call it in the Untied Freaking States of America, soda, and the carbs will strengthen your body and help stave that mild shock off.
In short, it’s a precaution against feeling like shit after your tattoo. Myself, after I get inked, even with my favorite soda and a good meal in me, feel exhausted. After each of my sessions for my Zombie Squid, I went home and passed the fuck out for a few hours.
After my wrist tattoo, which was by far and away my most painful, I went to bed for the night…at 7pm.
As for the drinking, I would HIGHLY recommend you take Friday night off. Drinking dehydrates you, , burns up Vitamin B, and makes your sleep less restful. Your body has to burn up its reserves to process the alcohol, and that will make the tattooing process less pleasant.
In short, I would advise that when going in for a tattoo that’s going to be a pretty good number on the tattoo ouchie scale that you take a night off, and then get TOTALLY wasted afterwards if you can’t take one weekend off.
Though if you can’t, I would, in fact, say you have a problem. I love me some whiskey, but come’on.

lol, i can take the weekend off but getting wasted afterward sounds good too:p. i guess i’ll see how i feel, i figure i’ll be pretty tired and not up to it. so i’ll be sure to get sleep, eat, and take a soda. i always thought you drank water to avoid getting dehydrated and stuff but soda it is! thanks, i can’t wait to get it done and over, the psyche out i’m giving myself is crazy!12 days…feels like forever.
