for my next tattoo I wanted to get a family type quote to symbolize how much my family means to me and all that, It will be on my inner upper arm. First quote I was thinking is “with family, comes strength”, my friend speaks italian so I was gonna have him translate it into that OR do ya’ll think I should just get it in english? my next thought was just to get “Family” in a nice script with a bunch of shading around it so it didn’t look too plain but idk if getting family is too unoriginal and too basic… any thoughts or advice would be great thanks.
Hi,
1. I like the Quote, but feel there are better ones and that doesnt capture the full meaning of a family
2. If your family doesn’t speak a word of Italian I’d say thats a bad idea(keep it english)
Other then that do what is going to keep you satisfied

Here are some recommendations
The family is a haven in a heartless world(this may be depressing actually)
Other things may change us, but we start and end with family
There are plenty out there look a bit before choosing(I’m not telling you what to do but I’m just giving my 2sence)
Marcus
hey thank you for the suggestions and the response. I agree that the quote I put doesn’t capture the full meaning of a family and that is why I am stumped on it. I like the second of your suggestions, the first one does sound depressing lol…
do you think getting “Family” in a script with like a cloud backround would be too basic and not really show any meaning?
Also I am gonna keep it in englis, yes my family is italian but having it in italian adds more words than I would want to pay for… lol
Just getting family is generic so if your going for original you won’t get it
If you just get the word family instantly people are going to know you have a great bond with them.
As for clouds they go great with text but look terrible if there is no start point and end point
for example if your getting it on your back I’d personally get it shoulder to shoulder not just in the middle(unless you plan to add around it)
Marcus
yeah I see what your saying…
2 more questions having to do with my first tattoo…
1. I am still getting some small dry looking spots on parts of the tattoo, when I put the cream on it it goes away, is this normal?
2. Some of the line work needs to be darkend up, is 2 months after too late to ask for a touch up? will he charge me?
thank you for the help
yes that is perfectly normal not something to worry about
as for touch up they are always free
2 months i think is the perfect time to wait to that’s when your tattoo should be fully healed i believe. Any further questions on healing tattoos you can refer to Sherav Im sure he would be happy to lend a hand
alright I apreciate it marcus
what about “My family is my strength”? better or worse than the other one?
I called the shop just to see how they work in the touch ups, he said just call him the day before and that is pretty much it and he said its free:D, should I tip him?
and is “my family is my strength” better or worse than “with family comes strength”
I like the idea of just “Family” cause I think it looks great written in a nice script but I want to make it more original.. tried looking around for some family quotes but google doesn’t give many options
Hi
I haven’t put forward any suggestions because i did not feel qualified to do so. I hate most of my immediate family. 😀
That said I prefer ‘with family comes strength’ this is because this gives the impression of a shared feeling of unity, strength, and support.
‘My family is my strength’ although nice suggests that you would be lost without having them to hand all the time.
As for tipping I am sure it would be appreciated but not expected on a touch up.
Good luck and post up when done.

thanks sherav I apreciate your input, that was the first quote I came up with a while back and it has stuck with me so I am leaning towards that one the most, what do you think about “family” though? too basic?
Hi
Personally I do not think it is too basic at all – it sums up a hundred emotions everytime I read the word.
If you are looking for simple and direct statement then that would work great.
If you are wanting to personalise the tattoo for an outward expression of how you feel about your family then go for the qoute.
Both work well for different reasons and each is it’s own style of tattoo.
For example my friend has on one forearm the word ‘truth’ (he gets asked all the time what it means and he says ‘whatever you believe the truth to be’).
On his leg he has tattooed the script ‘The seeds of our future are in the foundations of our truths’.
Both have equal meaning but the second one is arguably easier to grasp the concept.
Let us know what you decide.

geeze man you make it hard to decide! lol
you are great with explaining things. I understand what you are saying and I agree. I’m not really sure what to do
It is gonna be on the inside of my upper left arm, thats the only reason why I think Family would look better if I got it nice and bold to fill out the area… I didn’t know if the quote would look crammed up since I want it a nice size cause I don’t really like smaller tattoos
thanks again Sherav, I really apreciate your input.
