there really is no style in either pic. Looks to be random stuff. What is it about the pics that you like? If this is the reference you want to give the artist then so be it but you need to be specific about what it is you are looking for and be open to the artist’s suggestions if he has any. If you don’t like his/her ideas or they are not getting what you are saying then find a different artist.

    Hi

The style could loosely be called ‘Nu Skool’ or ‘New School’ as it is a re-interpretation of 50-60’s flash into a modern grafitti style.

But as already said it is a very loose term and the best thing to do is take the pics of what you like to the artist and get them to design a unique sleeve for yourself.

matt, you got better eyes than me. The new school version of old school flash I have seen is a lot bolder than the intepretation in the pics.

Not something I really gave much concious thought to.

I have just completed my doctorate in tattooing and culture and I guess after you look at thousands of tattoos (or any other art) you start to file them away under certain headings and gradings.

I take your point about the boldness but that could be atrributed to the artist’s skill or the individual taste of the person. (hence loosely)

At least the o/p will be able to walk in with a design theme that an artist can have a better idea of understanding. 🙂
