I believe it’s illegal to tattoo someone under the age of 18, in the UK at least

It can be done in the US as long as parent is present and signs a waiver. But I would wait a while longer, or you may end up with a tattoo of sponge bob or something. Just kidding, if you don’t wanna wait, just make sure you pick something from your heart.

at 14 you are really not mature enough to choose a tattoo.

sorry if that seems harsh but if i think back to being 14 there is no way i wouod have picked anything which i would still like now.

choose a tattoo now and dont have it done then if you still like it when your 18 maybe get it then.

Wait at least a couple of more years. I’m with Turbo. You might not like hearing this, and I’m not trying to be harsh. There are enough tattooists out there with no morals that they won’t even ask questions, they’ll just put whatever you bring on you, even if it is not worth tattooing because for them, its all about the money.

But at 14 you don’t understand what you are doing with tattooing. Some things in life can only be learned through experience and tattooing is an expression of the culmination of all our experiences, expressed through art. You don’t have the experience, or the understanding to translate them into art. You’ll come in and get something that at 14 seems cool, but which in retrospect, ten years from now seems silly.

I’ve been an artist for twenty years my friend and I’ve covered up thousands of tattoos people got as kids and regretted as adults. Tattooing is permanant and two more years will give you time to think and design. You are here on the forum. Take a couple of years to post and learn and ask questions and earn the respect of the artists here and get their help to design something that is uniquely you. Something you won’t regret a decade from now and in a couple years, or better yet in 4 more, then get it. But don’t do it now just because your mother bows down and lets you make wrong choices. Take the initiative to prove that you are responsible enough to deserve one.

    Wait.

    Hi Moonknight

I have to say I am with everybody else here. Most of my friends got inked at 14-16 and every one of them had them covered by the age of 20 as they had outgrown the tattoo in tastes.

I did not get inked until well into my 20’s as I wanted to be sure that what I got was something i wanted for life.

Spend some time on the forums and research the whole concept of tattooing and when you are done you will be in a lot better position to decide what you want.

4 years is nothing when you are in your teens – it flies by and you want to enjoy your 20’s with great ink.

    Take Care
    Matthew
