Hey im new on the forum and looking for a bit of advice,
i’ve been toying with the idea of extending a tattoo (asian themed) i have on my upper arm just now into a sleeve that ends just a couple of inches below mhy elbow.
the problem is i am unsure if the design i already have could be worked into a sleeve and still look alright. if i were to get the sleeve i would want to have it on the inside of my arm as well as the outside as it is just now, the problem i think would be joining the edge of the tattoo i have just now. the other option (which id rather avoid!) would be lasering off some of the waves and shading and starting again.
id obviously be continuing the asian theme of the tattoo and adding a couple of things , a buddha’s face on inside of upper arm and lotus flower possible towards bottom of sleeve to finish it off, anything else to the atrist’s discretion. the tattoo i have just now didn’t quite turn out how i had imagined it would so i would also be open to get whats already there touched up / improved as well.
ive attached a couple of pics of original tattoo to get opinions if this could be done. i apologise for the dodgy pictures but its not easy when your taking them yourself!
any opinions / ideas welcomed!
thanks

Hi.
The tattoo looks very nice.
As a sleeve extension you are worrying over nothing that piece can easily be added to in a variety of ways.
Firstly you could add the sleeve by adding a small series of channels formed by petals and streams that then bend into the shape of the new sleeve as a top border.
You could add a series of wind bars along the edges and fill the rest of the sleeve with the tattoo.
Japanese/Chinese styles often use a series of images to form the significant message such as a koi swimming up a river but then the river becoming a torrent of waves.
The key part is having the next piece slowly leading into the next – for example if you wanted flames you could have droplets of water and wind bars slowly turning to mist as the flames build up into the body of next section.
Just take your time and plan it.
Take Care

Hi
This might not apply for you. As an artist I take washable markers and usually draw on my self what i imagine, if you dont know how to draw then possibly have a friend draw up some ideas. This way you can get a better idea of what it might look like.
Cheers
Marcus
