    Hi all,

here are my questions. The tatto i want is made out of thin paralel lines that go arround the wrist in a 8 cm thick band….

    questions
    1. how thin the lines can be? …………….(i want them as thin sa possible)
    2. how close together can they be. so they dont get blured soon and in the future i can get them retouched….
    3. i was told to put white inbetween the lines to have them more together and to prevent from bleeding, but also to have them more tight.

I am a white guy but not very fare skinned, so am not sure about this white thing, i also live in the tropics so i think it will look really odd….

please let me know what U think. None of the tattooers i talked to know anything. Placing just lines, triangls and simple geometric shapes is nobodies interest…. very frustrating…

    thanks a lot

hmm, well my 1st thoughts are they you are going to really need a tattooist with a steady hand ( I mean amazingly steady ) because the thinner the lines the more faults could show up.

as far how wide apart i would guess its got to at least be a few mm , and i would not have thought that putting white in between them would make much of a difference because white can tend to mix with other colours anyways ……. dont quote me though its just something i have noticed before !

    Hi Joxxi

I have seen similar tattoos which were done on primitive man – they often just did a series of straight lines over the painful area and prob believed that it would relieve their pain – most often the joints or leg areas.

You will need at least 2-5 mm gaps to make sure that when the tattoo does spread a little it does not become a blobby mess.

White ink in between will not stop the black ink from spreading and will likely fade out long before the spread kicks in as you are in a hot country.

The sort of tattoo you want can be done but will take a whole bunch of hours as there is no rushing a detailed piece like that.

I think the issue is that the artists you have spoken with simply cannot be bothered to do such a time consuming piece as perhaps they see it as ‘not exciting art’.

I know you may feel passionately about it but you need to find an artist who has the skill to do this as it is much harder than it sounds and be prepared to spend some serious money as fine line tattooing like that will not come cheap.

    Hi all,

thanks for the replies. I am in the process of doing it.

My tattoo artist decided using # 3 needle and it looks ok. He did 5mm distance. The plan is to do next line inbetween with #1 needle. So the distance would be 2-3 mm. It seems the ink is bleeding when is pressed too much.

And yes it is talking a lots of time, so far 4x8hours. We spend a lots of time of mesuring, and STILL didnt come out perfect, but… I kind of learned more then I wanted.:D.
