I’ve been thinking about getting my parents’ portraits done and I want them on my forearms. This isn’t anything that’s going to happen soon as I’m still searching for an artist that I trust but I’m a little concerned because I have scars up and down my left arm and scar tissue isn’t the best for tattooing. Most of them wouldn’t interfere with the tattoo but there’s one that’s kind of dead center, it’s not extremely major but I’m worried that if I go ahead with that placement then the portrait might not hold ink as well over the scar. Is there anything to worry about or find another place?

    Hi and welcome Carrie

It really depends on the size, type and depth of the scar as well as the age.
For example a burn scar is harder to tattoo over than a surface scratch scar etc.

Any chance of a photo to advise better.

If you are not comfortable send me a PM and I can pass over my email or ask one of the artists Outlaw, Izzarasink or S.Neil if they can check the photo for an opinion.

    Take Care
    Matthew
