im going to get my last name on my back.. SANCHEZ in all caps. for the font i kind of want a western style font but modernized.. taller more compacted together. with shadowing downwards outside the letters. a bold outline and i want it all in black in white. my biggest challenge is to choose a fill or shading for the inside of the letters

if you have any ideas or pictures that might help me id greatly appreciate it!!!

    Hi

I am prob not going to be liked for saying this but…
Why do you want a tattoo that screams ‘gang banger’ and ‘prison’ to any who see it?

Having grown up with family who were career criminals they all opted for this type of ink as well as the teardrops and cobwebs, praying hands etc.

I am not against it but been honest that is how a lot of ppl will read it – ‘So where did you do time?’

That said here is a couple of examples

This site will show you examples of how different fonts look

Outlaw on his forum site has a number of downloadble fonts which might help.

Not to sounds rude but I’m getting this tattoo as a sign of pride. I’m not a gang banger. I like the sheckler tattoo. I wish I could find other examples like that

im pretty set on the overall location and design of it. i just need some fine tuning. i could care less of what average joe on the street thinks of me or my tattoo. if they want to think its gang affiliated then good them and their children can walk the streets in fear of nothing for the rest of their lives. if it said SMITH or WILSON it wouldnt be gang affiliated so the rasist people who want to stereotype me can have a nice time doing so

no offence to anyone here. i understand your concerns. but im set on the cocation

any more ideas will be greatly appreciated

i hope you are not implying that anyone here is racist .

smith , jones or any other surname is the same .
its the style that makes it look like a gang tattoo , if your fine with that go ahead and get it

    Hi

    Please don’t get me wrong – I am from the UK and our surname is classic English such as Hull, Cohen, Smith etc but the style of it was across the shoulders was to signify to others which ‘clan’ you were a member of so for example;

My uncles were pretty damn bad and everybody knew the ‘Cohen brothers’ because of the back tat and knew from that in our area that they were cousins of the ‘Smiths’ and ‘Hulls’ were their nephews or cousins. So when they did time it was kind of a warning to others about the family connection etc.

This was done purely through the style of lettering – big bold and brash as opposed to elegant script.

The cobwebs showed they had all done plenty of time and the teardrops..

Filled in meant a murder and empty was to commemorate the loss of a loved one.

When I lost my 3 brothers I was asked if wanted the 3 empty teardrops. 🙁

I declined as I hold a day job and had no desire to follow in the family footsteps.

In fact it did not occur to me until you mentioned it that you might think I rose the topic because of your surname as Sanchez. Far from it was the style you were choosing.

I am just saying that certain styles do have annotations to them no matter where you are in the world and was thinking of work prospects etc.

That said if you are happy then do it and wear your ink with pride.

    It is missing something…

I like it but it has something that needs to be added.

    Gave it some thought.

How about some shadow or drop shading to the letters or a cracked stone effect?

You could also add a border along the bottom.
