I got this mermaid tattoo in late August 2009,it was my first so I was nervous about the size. Now that i’m really comfortable with it I want to expand it/color it in, maybe add water or a quote? i dunno i’m up for many things and i’d love some feedback! A mermaid was inspired by my need to hold onto my inner child/peter pan syndrome-esque way of living/i live on the beach in ny/i love mermaids
I don’t know about filling it in and coloring it. To be honest the upper body and especially that arm and hand look really mishapen to me and I don’t know if an artist could fix that. But if your willing to go bigger perhaps you can simply cover her with a larger underwater mermaid scene. Perhaps with a dolphin or underwater treasure chest, what child doesn’t dream of burried or sunken treasure?

I am going to say this gently – it is not my intention to upset you but that is not the best of tattoos. I say it because I want you to get the most from your ink.
My advice is not to bother with a rework but get it covered up by a reputable artist before adding more work to it.

I have shown a mix of styles but again you could have a much better mermaid done quite easily and it would not have to be much bigger.
