LOL, ok. So my artist was preparing my arm for more ink work, and hes like “dude you got hairy ass arms!” He thinks tattoos look better without all that hair, which I agree. He said he’ll shave his arms a bit once in awhile in the shower. He also said anther artist there has waxed his arms before. Anyone else do it?
Also do you think over time the hair follicles get weaker making the hair not grow back as fast and fall out easier by waxing?
I don’t have super hairy arms, but I love when they feel really smooth. I’ve noticed that when I get my arms waxed, the hair grows back a lot thinner and softer. But the times I’ve shaved them, it grows back the same as it was.
tattoos look a lot better with a shaved arm but i’ve never heard of anyone waxing them
My boyfriend shaves his upper arm where he has his sleeve. I agree it looks alot better without hair.
Maybe laser the hair off but f waxing. that just hurts.
I don’t have anything on my arms.. but my good friend has a full sleeve and he shaves his arm. It looks better when there is no hair, but it looks even worse when there are prickly little hairs sticking straight up all over the place.
I’m a fucking sasquatch. If I didn’t shave my arms once a week you wouldn’t never be able to see my ink. Ditto my back. To be blunt, the only thing I don’t shave is my legs, and a few years down the line when I get my leg sleeves, gonna have to do that too….dammit. There’s just some inherently effeminate about shaving your legs.
Something that pisses me off–you could make a fucking rug out of me if I went a month or two without body shaving, but it takes six months for me to grow a proper goatee. AND WHY AM I SLOWLY GOING BALD?!
*weeps*
On the bright side, I’ve found that women really like it when you’re body shaved and lotioned so you’re all smooth.
Just sayin.
Fuck waxing, and I’ve heard laser hair removal can seriously damage tattoos.
Love. Peace. Metallica.

So how often do you shave your arms? I had some work done on friday, and it feels kinda prickly where he shaved. I may have to shave my arms twice a week!!!
I suppose whats the big deal right? Women do all types of shaving! Well most of them I hope!

I shave my arms and shit with the same frequency I shave my face. Basically, anytime I go somewhere were being well groomed is important to me. Wal-Mart? Fuck it. A bar? Shavey shavey.
Never less than once a week though.
Thing is, for the first day or two after you shave, assuming you lotioned right after, your tattoos look far more vibrant than normal.
As for women, if they don’t shave, it’s cool. When they do shave it’s cool. The problem is when you go downtown and it’s been a day or two and the fucking thing looks like a lumbjack out to camp. Fucking rug burn on your face sucks!
Just, uh, I’d wait a minute if I was you, at least a month. Otherwise, it’s going to sting like eight kinds of mother fucker, and you run the risk of hurting your gaping wound (otherwise known as your tattoo).

cool. Yeah I’d wait until my tats are fully healed, my 3/4 won’t get finished to a full sleeve until later this spring. Plus I don’t go anywhere really in the winter, except the gym.
hmm think that stuff actually works?
Hi
In responser never wax on a new tattoo and use wax sparingly on healed tattoos. You rip out the hair follicle and upto 2 layers of skin with it.
It causes a lot of damage to the surface skin which is dead but provides a barrier for your ink, and that smooth feel you get is the new skin that is growing underneath.
Yes the hairs get weakened by waxing with shaving you blunt them so they appear to grow back thicker/coarser so that is why facial hair can look thicker if you shave everyday.

My wife trained as a beautician and used to tell me horror stories of the waxing and ppl bleeding and screaming because they ripped the skin too hard etc.
Take Care

Wax it lads, wax it! Nothing worse than snuggling up to a prickley body. You’ll get 4 weeks out of it and it grows back soft.
I’ll let you guys in on a little secret on how to make your “shave” last longer… the trick is to exfoliate before shaving (so whether you use apricot scrub, a loofah or whatever else) if you do this before shaving it’s garaunteed to give you a closer shave which results in it lasting longer.
No giving me a hard time because I suggested you do something “feminine” like exfoliating, we’re already talking about y’all shaving your arms.
Second, if you do opt to wax instead of shave you’ll have to do that a lot less frequently and over time the hair will get finer and less noticable. Just like with shaving, it’s best you exfoliate before getting waxed (hurts less) plus moisturize (again not having to pulling off dead skin cells reduces the amount of pain you’ll feel) and last bit of advice on waxing, take a tylenol a half hour before =) But i’m sure y’all are tough guys, if you can get a tattoo, waxing should be a breeze
If all of this seems too much you could always try Nair/Veet (hair removal creame) – it stinks but there is no pain.
Hope this helps =)
