Anyone know of a studio in Melbourne who does fingernail tattoos? I’ve been asked this a few times lately and have no current contacts.

What the bloody hell is a finger nail tattoo all about?
It sounds really painfull or a total waste of time. I’m totally bemused. Do they tattoo your nail or the skin under your nail?
must really hurt if they tattoo the skin under the nail
I’m unfamiliar with something like this. But sounds repulsive…
fingernail tattoo’s are exactly as it says “finger nails” it only goes into the nail itself, but the ink does chip out if you dont clear varnish over the top of them for protection.
they last anything upto aprox 3 months as they grow out.. to me its a waste of time and money but everyone has their own likes and dislikes ๐
I was looking into it and as far as I can tell it can also be done through spray-paint but many artists engrave the nail with the image which should only be done by a pro because go too deep you are going to have a client (or yourself) screaming in agony as the whole nail fills with blood. ๐ฎ
It is possible to tattoo below the nail but this would mean removing the nail itself and tattooing raw flesh below. The agony that must be is crazy to think about.
Here is some links of they look

:eek:OH MY ACTUAL GOD!!!! The idea of that makes my toes curl and my bum go tight ๐ฎ
It seems a little risky for a temporary tattoo. ๐ฎ
That’s dumb. I can have a better design than in any of those pictures on my nails, without the pain.
haha why on earth would anyone do that garbage?? just get em painted!! jeez
Exactly, they have salon style brushes made for tiny intricate designs like that, and then there are stickers too, not the baby kind, but actual salons use them and seal them with a protective coating. Tattooing your nails sounds more expensive too…
Tattooing your nails looks tacky… On acrylic nails as said above, you can do a lot of tasteful things. Annnnd.. killer (I know) but they can last you up to 6 months if you keep filling them in.
So. With that said. Safer, less painful, cheaper, and lasts longer to get it done at the salon. Hmmmm… Oh decisions decisions…. It hurts my brain to choose. ๐ ๐
hee hee… loving the responses guys (and gals)!
I agree it looks completely tacky, seems like a waste of time and money, and probably will wear to quickly to be worth it.
BUT, someone asked me for a studio recommendation, and I turned to the best tattoo forum there is… and no one answered the post’s question:
Does anyone know of a studio in Melbourne who is doing these?
Cheers!

Hi
I had a good search and was not able to find any artists who were advertising it openly in the Melbourne area. ๐
That said a friend suggested contacting Taboo Tattoos http://www.tabootattoo.com.au/artists.php
They might do them or a know where they can be done.
