My idea was a bright and simplified version of horse anatomy since horses are my job/hobby

(sorry about the awful coloring – photoshop is broken so I had to use an online thingy)

Basically, what I want is a medium/palm sized horse colored in a very painterly way – similar to this artist’s work:

I love it bright like that. The actual horse would be done more like this:

But with the colors less blended/dark.

This would be my first tattoo (either upper thigh or shoulder area) so what should I expect time and price wise? Also, can you recommend any good artists in the Socal area?

First off, great design. I love the idea. What you need to do is print all three of your visuals off and give them to the artist you choose.

Now on finding your artist. I don’t know any tattoo artists there and until someone from there can suggest one, here’s what I recommend you doing.

When I was looking for mine I researched online for about 6 months. I narrowed it down to three shops in the area I was getting my ink done. I went to those three tattoo shops, talked to the people, took in the atmosphere and then I even went to random parlors I saw around the area. Basically I just drove around to see if I could find a hole in the wall that was something extraordinary. And well, I did. So… that’s my recommendation on now to find your artist.

Good luck and when you get it done I can’t WAIT to see it. I love how artsy it is.
