Hi guys,

I’ve read quite a few posts here, but this is the first time I’m posting myself. I’ve been planning my half sleeve for a while now. I have my appointment all booked up, ready to go for my first sitting June 26th.

I’m doing a famous painting of the d day landings in Normandy, the script of a “In Flanders Fields” on a old faded plaque on the inside of my arm. I HAD originally thought I was going to go with a faded, tattered Canadian flag at the bottom of the half – although the more I think about it, the more I think it takes away from the dark image/theme.

Like I said, this is a pretty dark themed tattoo, being done in black & gray as well. I’ve been racking my brain as to how I can replace this flag, but I can’t come up with much.

I thought if I were to ask someone with an outside view, maybe I could get a few good ideas to work with. Like I said, it’ll be at the bottom of the tattoo, right above my elbow.

If there are any artists out there with a creative mind, it would really help!

Cheers guys

This is a super duper cool idea! Could you post a link to the painting though? It would be easier to know what to add to it..
As for the Canadian flag bit, since it’s a dark tattoo why don’t you have the flag like a silhouette?
Or
Dark dark red would look cool. IMO black and white images look really effective with just one colour selected.

I hope this helps!
