I posted a thread a while back about an artist tattoing over a mole.

Its raised a bit, and I’m just concerned about the future and being able to keep an eye on it.

Can I have the ink lasered off of just the mole? Will it damage the mole in any way or create a danger for cancer?

Any ideas from removal specialists out there?

Itd be cheap to do, its less than a 1/4″ diamater, and for probably one session just to lighten it, I’m sure it wouldnt be a lot.

Even if you were able to laser the mole alot of laser places have a minimum fee. Most of the places I checked out charge at least $100 per session, reglardless of how small the tattoo is. May be worth either removing the mole or leave as it. I’d ask your dermatologist.

Hi

I am not a Dr. but I am aware that a laser can alter the genetic structure of a mole and there is a risk of triggering a change in the mole from benign to something possibly nastier.

The light from a laser has a spectrum equiv to UV which can be risky on moles as it breaks down all cells in the area not just the pigment of the tattoo.

Discuss with a Dr but might be easier and safer to either leave it alone or to have the mole surgically removed.

The removal is usually just a small scratch anyhow.

Dont do it, never use a laser over a mole, too risky 🙂

If you are using the laser therapy, then after the treatment the area around the mole would be red or brown. Generally a CO2 laser mole removal is used. After the surgery you should not expose the area to the direct to the sunlight.
