I thought that since this was my first, that I would start out small.
Work is being done by Darren Rosa at Rising Dragon Tattoos in NYC. The outline was done 2 weeks ago in a 7 hour session. Last night was my first color session, which lasted a little over 3 hours. One more 3-4 hour session should finish up the coloring on the dragon. It’s going to have green scales (the same green that was used for the eye on the Koi), with a yellow underbelly and a few other accent colors.
The first 2 pics were shot in a mirror, the piece is actually on my right arm.
I don’t think I could possibly be any happier with the way this is turning out. Darren did an amazing job with the composition. He freehanded the dragon directly onto me and fit it to my body perfectly. My original concept did not include any work on my back and I was originally planning to cut it off much higher up the arm. During my consultation, he immediately said that more room on my arm for the Koi would make for a much better design, and he would only be able to fit a partial dragon with the space I was giving him. Then my girlfriend brought up the idea of using part of my back. He started drawing it on me and before I knew it, 1/4 of my back was covered. I immediately fell in love with the idea and we ran with it. 😀
Dude, that looks amazing. I wanna see how he fills in the dragon
Looks great man. When is your next session? What color are you going with for your dragon? Keep everyone updated.

Thanks guys! My next, and hopefully final session is Sunday the 29th.
The dragon’s scales are going to be the same color green that was used for the Koi’s eye. The underbelly and accents will be a shade of yellow.
I will get pics of the finished product posted here as soon as it’s done.
Dude that’s awesome. Keep posting up pictures!

Most kois look unduly fat towards the tail- this one does not! Good work, I like it so far!
