hey guys,

i got this tattoo when i was kinda young and dumb, and did it hastily and,
obviously, not by the best artist. i still like the idea i have which is this reaper
on the left, with like a skinny dead tree coming from my back going
over/around/through the reaper, probably stopping a little before my nipple.
then maybe a few tombstones shit like that, my death side.

then i was planning (still am) on getting some sort of angel, or saint maybe,
on my right side (guardian angel, right side)

point is, this tattoo sucks. i dont like that when i put my arm down the reaper
looks fat, (i think because he put the stencil on when my arm was stretched all the way up seeing as i havent gained any weight)
theres no essence that there is wind as you see most reaper tats have,
and i dont know what he tried putting in the hand a fireball or something but i
want to see if he can fix that too but i know it is a very dark tattoo and is probably
pretty hard to fix shit like that

i already made an appointment for october the artist suggested just doing the tree
to start and that
should make the reaper look more proportional, and then i can have him touch
up the actual reaper,,,,, but i would like some ideas and suggestions from you guys as well

like i said: left side reaper, dead tree, tombstones
right side angel and ????
any suggestions will be much appreciated
thanks in advance

Well I would say that since that reaper is so horrible, it would always detract from anything better put around it. In stead of it looking more proportional, I fear it would just look worse. If the picture doesn’t lie, it seems to be just a tad faded from black, so you might manage (with the right cover-up artist) to create a whole new larger reaper and hide this one in the shading and folds of his cloak. The new head would thus be above the blade, and you could give him actual hands (that thing holding the sythe is just painful to see).

So, personally I would fix the reaper first, because what you do with it is always going to rule what you can put around it.
