so i got my second tattoo, quotes, a few months ago. it was supposed to match my first which is a rusty red color. the same guy did both. i don’t remember his mix for the first since it was over five years ago but this time he mixed white red and a peach flesh tone color. it was a little light than my first. when he did it it looked a little dark but it had the trace line and was swollen and red so i figured it would fade. some spots have but those are illegible. the rest is purple. he has no idea why it is purple. I’m not an artist but i “majored”, as my high school called it, in art and red white and peach do not make purple. so i talked to him and another artist and they both have very different ideas on how to fix it.
A) use something called witch hazel to lighten the ink that is already there. I’ve seen this is mixed with inks before tattooing but will this work after the ink is already in and healed?
B) the second guy just wants to darken my original tat. this does not thrill me. i love the color of my original and everyone who sees it says it would look weird darker. also I’ve had kids i work with color it in with markers and it always looks odd darker. i don’t want to darken it but i know darkening would be easier than lightening
so if anyone knows if witch hazel would help or has any other ideas that would be great
