I’m planning on getting another tattoo before I leave Germany next month and have come up with a design with a few variations. Each part has a meaning. Which do you think is best or what do you think I should change/add?

Meanings:

-The circle with the slashes is the de-regulation sign from the Autobahn (i.e. no speed limit, pass whenever you want, etc.). It will serve as a reminder to never set limits for myself

-“Dirigo” is latin for “I lead”, which is the motto of my home state. Self explanatory

-The parallel lines are a masonic symbol that essentially mean to live within your means but has many interpretations

-The box figure is the 47th problem of Euclid (aka Pythagoras Theorem), and is also a masonic symbol for an appreciation of the sciences.

Thanks for your help!

Well, I hope you realize that it will never EVER be a circle once it’s on you. The skin stretches way too much for that. Considering the masonic importance of a perfect circle, I’d say this tattoo simply can’t be done right.

True, I hadn’t thought of that. I’m considering removing the lines anyway, I think it might be a bit much

Well, I didn’t even think about those. Yes. Every single thing in your tattoo needs to be 100% straight and correct and perpendicular and parallel and such. All these things are impossible in a tattoo, especially in the place you want it in. I am afraid this ink can never become a reality.

My personal opinion is that this gladdens me, because I think it’s complete rubbish anyway and doesn’t even look good on paper, but luckily my opinion is not the one that counts here ๐Ÿ™‚

Of your designs go with #3.
A tattoo that tries to say to much says nothing.

Thanks. Do you think it’s too much? I’m not much of an artist myself, do you have any suggestions of how to improve the design?

You have a tattoo of the Taurus zodiac symbol in your album. The zodiac dates have changed. You probably have the wrong symbol tattooed. Do you get the news in Iceland?

I think a tattoo should only cover one subject. Example for the Autobahn no speed limit pick something that represents that like a picture of a Veyron.

Yes, but I try not to read/watch them. There’s never anything worth seeing on it.. just death and misery.

The zodiac dates have changed? LOL. Interesting.

LOL. About time they did that. Good to know, thank you both ๐Ÿ™‚

This isn’t really ‘news’ for those that actually ‘do’ astronomy. My star chart has me as 3/12ths Aries an only 2/12ths Taurus, with the sun being in Aries (which is what causes this shift) ๐Ÿ™‚ I was, however, born a Taurus. The fact that I’ll die an Aries doesn’t make my Taurus tattoo ‘wrong’ ๐Ÿ˜€
