First session has been completed, this is the outline only.
Color and shading coming in a couple weeks.
nice work!! you going with black and grey or color?
Cheers mate. It will be colour. My artist wants to do it in traditional Chinese brown and gold but I’m not sure how that will look as I’ve never seen a dragon tattoo in that colour scheme.
So I haven’t decided what the colours will be yet, I will have a look at his portfolio again before the next session.
here’s a bit of advice….if you have a chinatown near you and can find a fortune teller ask him/her what your colors are. they should be able to let you know and then you can try to incorporate those into your dragon. for example, i’m halk korean/white and i was going to a fortune teller on a regular basis with a chinese friend of mine. the teller told me i had a youthful appearance and that i should use bright, vibrant colorslike reds.blues, greens and yellows. just a thought though really…..
Hmm that’s an interesting idea! The tattoo is not really about me though, its a reference to my Chinese wife and her family, as well as our first child who is on the way.
Maybe I could drag my wife to a fortune teller but she would think I’m completely nuts! I will definitely consider it though!
Great start pretty clean line work for the most part I see a couple of blowouts but once that baby is colored up you’ll never see them. Congrats,
ok here’s a pic after the last session, to be honest I’m not overly happy with it. Just doesn’t look as great as I was hoping. And there’s too much yellow, making it look like a toddler coloured it in.
just think in 5 years time you could regret it.
The face which is the focal point he did a real nice job on. the rest seems to be rushed. Give it a bit the colors will tone down a bit and if you don’t still like it then it shouldn’t be to hard to darken it up.
I agree with Buttwheat. Colors can be changed. Personally, I think it looks great, although I can see why you’re not happy with the colors right now. I hope you didn’t pay too much for it. 😀
Yep will do, I’ll add it to my album when its fully healed.
let me tell you it was NOT cheap. It’s half my fault though, I asked an artist who specialises in Japanese to do a chinese dragon which he’d never done before.
I’m not a fan of yellow, the claws were supposed to be green, not sure why he did that.
lol I was joking about the cost, bro. It’s worth the scratch. And yellow becomes green VERY easily. I stand by my initial statement that it’s a great piece.
I’ll be stoked if the yellow becomes green, had no idea that could happen.
Hell, I’d be happy if the yellow just became less yellow!
