please dont ask for a design, professional studio working tattoo artists have a limited amount of hours a day during which they can earn money. no matter who you are jess yen, brandon bond, russ abbott, bob tyrrell you can only tattoo so many hours a day. If that machine isnt running the money isnt coming in to pay their bills. Artists cannot spend hours designing for people who are not going to book them.

no one can draw your dream tattoo after reading a three line email. if they try they will probably miss by a mile and the time would be wasted.

IF YOU WANT SOMETHING DESIGNED FOR YOU

get a solid idea in your head, one you have thought about for months, some quick thoughts turn out to be bad ideas after a week or two, so really put some thought into this being a good tattoo design

find some reference material on your own, books, magazines, google images, something to start with

look at artists portfolios of studios you are familiar with or refered to. find art artist whose style you like,

call that artist and go meet with them in person, this shows your seriousness about actually gettng some work done, if you really want to impress them slap some andrew jacksons or a nice bud on the table for their trouble, then when they draw that kick ass design for you book it on the spot.

IT MAKES NO SENSE to design a tattoo with someone other than who you are going to get tattooed by, the artist you choose is going to want input into at least the technical aspects that the tattoo needs, like line weights, line spacing, use of nagative space, light source and all that good sh*t that makes a good tattoo a long lasting piece of work………..GO TO THEM….let them do that good sh*t they do…….you will end up with good work, and begin a relationship with that person that can help you fullfill your ink dreams………isnt that what you want?
