Hey all,
I got my first tatt about 3 months ago. While I am happy with it, I am disapointed that it lost that fresh black color when I first got it. I know that “fresh” black won’t last forever, but I swear it looks greener and greener to me every day and it’s pissing me off. The url at the bottom contains a picture of it so hopefully you guys can give me some advice. There is the line work, soilid black, & black shading & I would like all of them to be darker. Before I walk into a shop and just ask some random artist to make this think darker I figure it would be better to come here and ask:

1.) Is it possible to get my tattoo (noticably) blacker?

2.) How shall I go about getting this accomplished? I know just going to a random artist and saying hey make this thing darker might not be wise. Do I need to find someone who is reccomended or do I just need to comminicate exactly what I want to a respectable artist at my popular tattoo shop?

Hey man cool ink i like it a lot!

The best thing you can do is go to your tattoo artist who did it and ask him but some darker shading in there. I don’t see any reason why it isn’t possible.

Be sure to let us know how you get a long.

interested to hear what other people think about this…

i have the same issue with mine, looks much blacker and nicer when it was freshly done…

now that’s it’s fully healed i feel that it has faded quite a bit and i would have liked to keep the original ‘blackness/darknesss’ if possible…

so i think one other question to ask is: can you ask your artist to make a b/g tattoo to be uber/extra black or dark at the very beginning knowing that it will lighten quite a bit afterwards?

thanks…

Thanks appreaciate the compliments. The guy who did the linework isn’t local, and I wouldn’t use him again anyway. The guy who did the shading (& a good job IMO) is in Ft lauderdale, I got it done when I was visiting home for vacation.

A quick google search on the topic yields the following link which is usefull & makes sense, but how do I find an artist who practices these methods? What if I don’t, should I just tell some artist “hey I want max black, read this article” sounds rude IMO.

I cant see it very well in this pircture but the shading under the hood and in between the ribs isnt good, it isnt packed and solid, I tend to believe high quality inks were notused either, the work is too new to look this light,

I agree, these are the areas where I want the black packed more solid. It happens to look lighter than ussual in this picture because of the flash on the camera, but I agree the greenness is pissing me off. I’m in Atlanta so if anyone knows of someone they can recommend please do.

Im in Atlanta my friend and I wear over 200 hours of Atlanta ink,

for budgetary reasons I will send you to a fine up and coming young artist names Vince Villalvazo, he owns Mystic Owl Tattoo in Marietta, his wife (the beautiful Tara) is on the cover of this months Ink Atlanta magazine, Vince has won alot of trophys this year and had been published in 3 magazines int he last 60 days, get him while you still can (before he gets tooo booked)

I would recommend the folowing Atlanta shops (out of 300 there arent too many good ones)

Ink and Dagger, Decatur, owned by world famous Russ Abbott, he has several great guys working for him
All or Nothing, marietta, world famous shop owned by Brandon Bond, artists change but always talent on hand
Mystic Owl, Marietta, Vince, Tim and Jace are all published trophy winning artists,

Drop my name, Kevin aka mrchen, everyone knows me, let me know if you need help,
Im booked in January and February myself, check my portfolio, click under my avatar, lots of Atlanta ink
