Hey all, I’ve been on here just surfing for about a week and this is my first post. I just got my latest piece colored in and wanted to show it off; I have about 6 pics in an album but unfortunately I’m not quite sure how to get them in a post 😮
Anyways, my new one is the Magritte tribute on my right shoulder if you look at my albums, let me know what you think. And could someone maybe tell me how to get pics in threads? 🙂
I would say pick up a copy of one of the tattoo magazines, like tattoo life, tattoo energy, or go on a webpage, maybe vince villalvazo.com or tattoosnob, maybe tattooartists.org………compare work of a good artist to this artist, he is not talented
the quality of the work is terrible, your design, fine, I would spend another penny with this person.
the clouds are terrible, the apple and leaves to close to same color (wrong) the hat is crooked and poorly drawn, the background behind apple poorly done, why does color not touch lines around apple or background, weird look to that………..its not well done
Mrchen, I’ve already done all that. I’m not entirely new to the idea of ‘doing my homework’. I’m beginning to think most of the miscommunication and hurt feelings on here comes from personal preference more than lack of artist ability. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen some bad ones on here, but I’ve also seen some really good work that no one seems to like. I’ve seen two pieces by the same artist and thought one was brilliant and the other crap.
I’m an art history major. This is based on a Surrealist painting, so yes the clouds may look odd. However, the apple is pretty much spot on from Magritte’s. If you want to tell Magritte that you have a problem with his apple and leaves being the same color, go for it. The hat is not crooked, not poorly drawn and is also not finished. The color does not touch the apple for reasons of balance. If the blue touched the green of the apple, it would diminish the detail of the leaves and make the top half of the apple appear smaller. The lower half of the apple has more surface area (so it already appears to stand out more) and the gray bricks are not as dark as the water/sky. So long story short if the color touched the apple it wouldn’t stand out as much.
The original painting is called The Son of Man. Have you googled it yet?
ok it looks great…..if your happy, Im happy………..Im a graduate if Maryland Institue College of Art, I do know what I am looking at, it doesnt look right to me……….but all that matters is if you like.

Ive got 233 hours of tattoo work, my album (click under my avatar) has most of my work posted, have I asked anyone if they like any of them? Nope, I dont care………I like them all.
People dont like to hear that you dont like what they like and it is human nature that sometimes other folk arent going to like what you like. But please dont get mad at me for the opinion I gave you, that you asked for………….lets be buds and go look at some more tattoo work

I am getting tattooed in january and february by a well published artist…………I am going to post the work here and other places to show some friends here, surely I will get comments positive and negative, we will never all like the same thing, we are all different, and that makes things interesting…………………………. but I will get work that is well done by a skilled hand
SD, My next piece is a sailor rabbit by Vince Villavazo (wwww.vincevillavazo.com)(mysticowltatoo.com) …….it will mean alot to me (my zodiac sign is a water rabbit), but you may or may not like it………and I surely wont care a bit, my ink is personal, very personal, it is seen by alot of people, but it is just for me
i studied magritte for my fine art qualification and did a piece based on one of his so i know the reference point and im sorry but i have to say i dont like it either, i think that a better artist could have done a much better job of this. of course if you ask people’s opinion you cant be upset when they dont like it. you are right that its not a terrible piece of work but at the same time i wouldnt say it was good work either. im sorry hun it’s just my opinion, i dont ask people whether they like mine either coz quite frankly i dont give a crap, i already know they dont like text tattoos lol 😛

I aint nobody special but I have experience, you can see my 233 hours of ink in my album, you can also be assured I am in a tattoo shop every week somewhere in the US or another country, also I started hanging out in a tatoo shop when I was 15 1/2, it was called TattooTux’s in Baltimore city, a rough section near the bus station (he is now passed on, bless him)………he let me hang around alot because I wasnt trouble.
Ive been hanging out over 33 years.
I have watched the best artists in the world tatoo in person, Bob Tyrrel, Brandon Bind, Russ Abbott, Davee, Paul Booth, Myke Chambers, Nate Beavers, tons of guys, i couldnt even write the list it is so long.
I say all that to say this, I got an idea what a good tattoo looks like,

Im freakin dead serious, lets get booked, lets go to the convention, lets go visit a shop, meet a new artist, I love this shit, I love the pain, the process, I love meeting artists, meeting apprentices, I love getting tattooed, rocking to some good music, some food, maybe some smoke, I love the whole fucking thing and I want you to love it and get some great ink too
