I got permission to use this as a tattoo, but I don’t know how exactly I would place it. Would it look good at the center of my back? One side? How big do you think it’s going to be?

For me personally I would make a whole back piece from it and fill it with even more details and things but that’s just me 🙂

you would need to make this at least 1/4 of your back to keep all the details. it would make for a great tattoo with the RIGHT artist.

Right on, back piece, big as you can stand, probably my only tattoo regret is I should have done some pieces bigger

Something that detailed will need a huge canvas, so I’d say a large leg piece or the back. However, I am afraid that it may not translate well into a tattoo.
