Hi, I’ve been recommended this artist from a friend who has some previous work done by him. I’m based in Birmingham, England. First of all I’m looking to get some various pieces, the first being a car/mechanic based sleeve. This is a link to the artists portfolio, any opinions would be helpful, thankyou.
Welcome to the forum!
Looks like some solid work. What do you think? You’ll be wearing it for life.
Keep us posted.
Really shouldn’t matter what we or others think. You are the one who needs to be pleased with it. You’re the one who’s going to be wearing it for life.

I couldn’t disagree more with this.
If more people came onto a forum BEFORE they went to an a certain tattooist and asked others what they thought of their talent level there wouldn’t be nearly as many crappy tattoos walking around out there. It takes a trained (not the word I want to use but can’t think of another to use) eye to see great line work, color blending ,shading, saturation, depth, cleanness ect.
Or maybe you’re right fuck asking what others think about tattooist just go to the closest tattooist that seems like a cool dude because you’re looking for a friend not a business transaction. I thoroughly enjoy making fun of crappy tattoos
My point was that if he is pleased with what he see’s then really it shouldn’t matter. Problem with a skilled eye is most people don’t have one and it takes years to develop. I agree about asking and getting great information but at the end of the day its up to the wearer. I’m wrong in my approach but right in my thinking but its still early so could be wrong there to :p

He is absolutely right in asking advice – exactly because he doesn’t have the ‘eye’ to be able to tell a good tattooer from a bad one. Every time someone goes to a shitty artist it puts money in their pocket and keeps them in business and able to do more shitty work. There is already too many crappy tattoos out there.
(This is not a comment on the artist he has chosen – I am not saying they are shitty, just that there are way to many crappy tattooers and they do not need to be supported.)
I did look previously at the site, and was neither impressed nor horrified. Didn’t see anything that would make me either endorse them or warn people away, because my ‘eye’ is only partially ‘trained’ at this point. I have seen other artists work that I would definitely warn people to keep away from. And some that I would highly recommend. To my eye, this was somewhere in the middle. I did find the work rather darkly shaded and quite inconsistent, though.

I’m living proof. I thought these people were assholes for tearing apart my new tattoos. They pointed out the differences in a good one and a shit one. (I still think they’re assholes, but for other reasons!) (LOL)
Same as I replied on the other forum lol Don’t you trust the people on that one?
Thanks for you replies guys, as I said I’m new to it all, and I just wanted to get a general view on his work as I don’t want to wear a rubbish tattoo for the rest of my life.
And I just posted on various forums to try and get as many answers as I could, so I could get more opinions on his work, thanks again!

He’s pretty average, I wouldn’t let him near me with a sharpie.
Don’t settle for a mediocre artist. keep searching and find someone with amazing talent. In the end your the one wearing it so make sure you take your idea to several artist and let them draw something up for you if your not happy with what you see then decline the work also if possible check out the artist at work see how they use the colors and shading to make a tattoo pop out. When all is said an done you will go with whom you feel will do the best job for you. If you decide to go with your buddy’s tattooist then come here to show it off we’ll pic it apart and make you feel like you got a shitty tattoo. However your friends will be like its fucking awesome fuck them and you will have a crappy tattoo that you think is awesome. After a few years and seeing different work and styles you may begin to see our point. And then you will be like shit I should have gone to a better artist. The point I was trying to make earlier is that your the one who’s got to be pleased with what you see cause your the one going to be wearing it. Kudo’s for you checking it out with several places to get the best information you can so now check with different artist and get the best tattoo you can.
