So I’m thinking on my first tattoo right now. I’ve been wanting to get a tattoo since the early teens, and I actually don’t want only one. This first one has to be something that will be quite small and simple. It’s more of a start, i’m going to get more later on, and i just want this one to mark a few things for me.
I have a few quidelines, but i’m not only into those. It’s more about talking a little about it so i can get ideas, think about it and come to a decision.
So,
I’ve got a little viking blood in me, and love the mythical vikings of our days, so anything in between historical truth and DnD/fantasy vikings works great
I’ve been working with bees for a while, and I really loved it. Couldn’t find anything neat over the internet, nor get some idea myself, but I would love something that has to do with that
I also study applied informatics,and love video games, so a cool idea that would have to do with pc’s would be great, but don’t think there actually is anything good enough.
Also, i’m from a family that have always been working in construction, if that could give any ideas.
More generaly, i love bikes, dogs, music. I got a intense conection with sea, as far as ships, sailing etc.
That should do for now I think…
I’m mostly thinking about some viking symbols. Simple and with some deeper meaning. But I would love more creative ideas, even if it would mean i have to wait some time to get enough money to get it.
With a little research and thinking, i’ve though of something, having to do with bees. I’ve asked a friend to do a sketch that a tattooer could start of with and i’ll see how that turns out!
And as an idea it is something that can start small and slowly build up something big and complex if i feel so after a while.

both are top notch greek artists. tell them your idea about the bees and have them come up with something cool. sounds like and idea they might be interested in.

@yodaddynukka well, those guys are in other cities… Just getting to them will cost me half the price of the tattoo and more than that i’m in no mood to travel just to get a tattoo. You never know when I’ll end up being in Athens or Thessanoliki though, so i’ll keep them in mind. Maybe i’ll even get in touch with them and grab the chance to get to some festival and at the same time get a Tattoo. Thanks for the info!

I do NOT like GSPOTTATTOO at all. Terrible.
If I had to choose one of those four, I would go with the last shop. I really like what Tattooman is putting out. But I don’t love what every artist there is doing. Some are way better than their colleagues. Like at most shops the style and skill level varies from artist to artist. Which of the artists at these shops has a style that you like?
I myself am willing to travel for a really good artist. (Or artists – I am currently planning two trips to California this fall. For appointments. :D) It takes more time and you are right, it adds to the cost. But a piece from the right artist is priceless, in my opinion.

The only one i really liked was Chris from that last shop. Tattooman, I can see has very good ones, but they are not excactly my style… Too much color! 😛
Could you explain what you find is wrong with gspottattoo? I mean, they don’t seem terible to me, they just seem like regular tattoos… So, I really have to make the best i can with my eye before i choose an artists!
I’d be willing to travel myself too, but for something more special…Getting a big nice tattoo that would cost me about a thousend or more, sure I would add in some extra, but when we are talking a little piece, I don’t think it’s worth it.

That is exactly the problem – the best of the ones that they are showing are just ok. Others aren’t very good at all (like the koala, for instance). You should be looking for amazing, not “eh, that’s o.k.”

No. His work is very flat – has no depth to it at all.

The koala for instance, is not my taste, but i wouldn’t describe it as non-good. Seems like good towards very good to me…!
I propably need to train my eye somehow…
In the meanwhile, I visited a tattoo shop in the area… I told him i want something not very big or very small, but i want it to be as detailed and good worked as possible. He told me it would propably be around 100€.
Now.. that consernse me… I mean, sure, i like saving some money, but ain’t that a little too low? For any tatto… No matter how small or easy or anything?…!
