Hello, I’m Julian, and I have been thinking of getting my first tattoo on my ribs. I have been thinking of the design for a few years now, but I lack the skills to put what’s in my head on paper. How does one go about sending some pictures and a description to several artist to preview their sketches?

Talk to a tattoo artist and let them use their creative ability to draw up a kick ass tattoo designed specifically for your body.
When picking a tattoo artist you should check out their portfolio for tattoos that suite you. Select by style, use of colors or black and gray.
Pay attention to the outlines of their tattoos. Are the lines straight and curved where they need to be? Do they waver where they shouldn’t?

How do I go about finding artists in Houston? Is there a site I should look where I am able to compare artists?
I want my tattoo to be of a very detailed pre-Colombian gold figurine. I am not sure what styles would look good with that idea. I do not want it very tribal, more abstract than anything. I am not sure I want very much color in it either, maybe yellow, blue, and red (Colombian colors). Either that or all black and grey.

You really need to do your homework. Finding the right artist is the most important part of the process.
