Ok here’s the deal, I just started doing tats about 2 months ago. I’m mostly just doing small tribals for friends and family. So here’s my problem, my work looks great when I finish it but when they heal they look light and spotty. What do I need to fix this? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Moose, we do not discuss technique on this forum unless you are in a pro shop…and if you were in a pro shop you would know the answer, so We welcome you to the forum, but not for that type of discussion. If you want that type of discussion, follow this link and go to this forum. Then follow the polite path, introduce yourself, read the forum rules and guidelines, browse other topics trying to find the answer under old threads, then post your question. http://outlawtattoo.5.forumer.com/index.php?act=idx
Moose, Im happy to see you had the presence of mind to be concerned enough to ask, but you’re not talking about something as trivial or casual as you seem to think it is. No matter what you may have seen on the streets, tattooing is NOT something that can be considered a hobby or something to do at home with a few friends. It’s a serious profession that can have serious medical consequences if not done properly. Not to mention crimminal and civil liabilities that can make an uninsured, unlicensed tattooist or (scratcher) pennyless for life.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot what happens in more than 9 of 10 amateur tattoos. Someone is forced to wear a less than attrative tattoo for the rest of their life. Why? They think saving a few dollars is worth risking their lives for. Which is the reason you’re asking us this question isn’t it? You’re still trying to cut us, the professionals out because for some reason you’re convinced you can do what we do at home. Even if technique was allowed in open forum, you’d get no help from me. That’s like asking us to hold the blade while you cut our throats.
You are exposing these poor fools to bloodborn pathogens (disease) thru crosscontamination (spreading disease) and the likelihood of you & your guinea pigs shopping for internal organs due to the HepC Virus you gave them in a few years is staggering.
The fact your markings are poor is the last thing for you to think about.

Besides the point that you are mostly correct…I said MOSTLY…I noticed, because I don’t reognize your name, that you have only one post…which would make this your first. It is customary to first stop in the introductions section and introduce yourself…especially before scalding someone. It is an intelligent move to browse the forum before posting to learn the forum and the topics.
Now, me, I’m from Texas, and most people think us Texans are a little short and blunt. Northerners call us rude…but then so are they. I don’t much care about rudeness. kinda rolls off my back.
But this forum is full of these people from places like Scotland, and The United Kingdom, and places like that and they place a lot of stock on politeness, so lets not be offensive until you’ve at least first told us something aboutcha.
I’d thank you for it.

You truly have a better sense of diplomacy than I do. I’m just the typical “Short, blunt and rude Texan!”
Only every now and again, my friend. I’ve been in a pretty good mood lately. Let me have a bad week and I’ll get downright blunt, rude, crude, whatever you call it.
Got us a pool table for the shop and began decorating the studio for halloween. Gonna have a fun one with that. We’re thinking about having us a good old fashioned Haloween party. What are you gonna do…anything? And where exactly is Flying Eyeball? I might stop in one of these dayz.
Corpuc Christi Texas, Southside business district, inside a large shopping center called the Corpus Christi Trade Center at 2833 SPID. I only wish I had space enough for a pool table. My place is
<<>>, lol, but it’s a high volume location so I’ve stayed there my entire 18 years. This Halloween I’m not planning anything, because I’m puttingh alot into an event on Oct 11, 12 weekend. A company called “Heatwave” is hosting a car show at the American Bank Center Convention Center. They’ve asked me to set up as a vendor during the event so I said what the hell, October is usually slow for me so I can use the boost if you know what I mean….
Wish we were high volume! I do a pretty decent business here, but not as good as I’d like. Amber and I were able to open NCI debt free, so we’re building up the overhead to open a second studio. This one we are going to place for high volume and money, we’re gonna open in Ft. Worth this time and set it in a good location. We’ve got a 4 year goal for that, and when we do, we’re gonna build large enough to put a pool table in that one also. If I get down to Corpus I’ll drop in and see you. Are you going to the 11th Annual Texas Tattoo Roundup?

If you come to Corpus without seeing me I’ll be pissed!!!
“Are you going to the 11th Annual Texas Tattoo Roundup?”
No, I’m afraid this is one I didn’t know about until it was too late to prepare. It’s too bad too because it looks like some of my old idols and legends will be there. My all time favorites for black and grey, some of my greatest influences were Jack Rudy and Brian Everett. the last time I saw Jack Rudy was in 1993 in San Diego. I’ve never met Brian Everett so I’ll be missing out this time. Take a few snapshots for me though!!!
