I’m looking for a thread that explains all of this points and achievements… can someone point me in the right direction? To be honest, I’m not sure I understand the points or what they are for. Without any explanation from the site owners and Mods, It makes me feel like posting on this site is a competition, some sort of game.
I’m as open minded as can be so I am totally willing to get excited about this if it makes sense. My concerns float around people posting for quantity not quality and that the posting motivation will be directed towards getting more activity points or achievement points as opposed to quality, on topic discussions about tattoos, tattoo lifestyle and whatever else might pop up on these boards.
I hope I’m wrong, I usually am. Let’s focus on keeping this a fun place to talk about tattoos….
PS before you point it out, I know in the past I have been accused of straying from the topic and I was wrong in those cases. Please take this in context.

Well you definitely are pointing out something that makes perfect sense. I am sure Turbo will post up something that is going to explain it… I would if I knew. I think I posted a blurb too soon lol he is prolly working on some info sheet.

it could help boost activity too. But like Gsouder says that quality of post could drop just so ppl can get the stats and level up.

I agree with Arni, in my opinion the layout is really messed up now, the “headers” of the posts are blown out of proportion and Gsouder’s point is also valid: It may very well lead to more but less qualitative posts.
However, I’m willing to roll with it for now, maybe I get used to it in a couple of days 😉
I was wondering on that too. we can move the bars etc over to the right instead under the post count. Although i think it may take even more room there. What do you think? should we maybe try it out?

It could fall that way i suppose but i can create negative points for pretty much anything aswell. for example any kind of infraction received would result in a massive loss of points. We can simply give out infractions for pointless posts etc. There are also additional points awarded for good quality posts or for helpful posts.
We can even not give out points at all for posts themselves and only for thanks or other helpful stuff so people try to be as good as they can.
The aim with the experience is for it to be somethign a bit more fun for us regulars and i think we will probably find that the newcomers will be more bothered about askign the same questions than stopping just to get the next award.
Although if that does happen then we will just change how it works.

Well, now that you’ve removed the last achievements and award showcase frames, it’s much much better. Moving it to the right would, as you say, not do anything positive. If you’re going to add the achievements and awards frames again, I’d like to see them to the right of the bars… in the space between.

Right on, Thanks for explaining. It’s a fine line between pointing out a possible negative and being that douche bag that “points out a possible negative”… or maybe there is no line? I don’t know. Anyway, I love the site, I enjoy being here and I’m supportive and openminded when it comes to these ideas.

i have no idea actually. the thanks thing is actually a different modification which does sort of integrate into the achievements thing but is seperate. ill have a look when i have a bit of tiem and see what the difference is (if any) and delete the other one of there is no difference.
might just be a coding error in the mod?

that gives an explanation of what points are added for what actions.
there are possible negative points but not just because you pissed me off for something. it would be for an infraction for spamming or being an ass to another forum member etc.
all in all im pretty open to regular forum members givign me any feedback they like. if i think its bullshit ill say so. but constructuve criticism is a good thing to have and i wont pretend for a moment that i am infallible and know everything about how a good forum should work.
i just try to make it better when i can and build in ideas from people as and when they come across:D
