I was seriously confused the first time I saw Spirited Away- later I realized that I had a poorly translated copy including lines like “taste my flying monogram!”

Since then I’ve fallen in love with Howl’s Moving Castle- it’s just so damn beautiful, and the details in every scene are so unexpected and bizarre(but so coherent and well woven into the story the second or third time you watch). Plus I pretty much want to be the witch of the wastes. Amazing.

I’m looking forward to seeing Princess Mononoke and that one about the tanukis…and Spirited Away again too! I’ve got all three on my netflicks queue, and I’m awaiting them eagerly.

If you don’t cry during Grave of the Fireflies then you are simply not human although it’s not a Miyazaki film it’s still Studio Ghibli so I put them in the same class. Even if its animated it’s still one of if not the absolute most powerful anti-war movie ever made even Roger Ebert thinks so.

Although I love those films the facial designs are kind of exactly the same in all Ghibli films.

My favorite Miyazaki film is Monoke, I loved that movie.

His movies are so touching, especially Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Laputa – Castle in the Sky.

The cel shading is beautiful, and his films go right to the heart. They’re perfect how they’re sometimes comedic, occasionally romantic, and serious. The characters are unique and just a little strange, not just another princess in a movie. The English voices may not be super, but they still express the characters.

Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki make the movies seem so real, when they have such fantastical objects. The movies obviously have had a lot of time put into them and it’s simply amazing how the characters are portrayed from the books. Of course some elements are changed, but what producer doesn’t do that? It just makes the movie better and better.

I nearly cried on Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and Laputa, because they touched me.
