Like when you move your hips and shoulders forward in order to engage the abs it hurts my lower back. Am I doing it wrong?

You’re not doing it wrong. It’s just building muscle

No pain, no gain

I love doing Hip Hop Abs, but I too get the back pain. It goes away after a little bit and isn’t too persistent so I”m not that worried.

You have to monitor it carefully.

Pain is there for a reason – to tell you that you are damaging something.

Whilst a small to moderate amount is within reasonable costs if you are finding it too painful use a less strenuous exercise and build up to this one.

If you knacker your lower back that is game over.

Take Care

I know this thread is old, but if its a sharp pain in your lower back thats not good at all that means you are doing it wrong, you should never experience lower back pain while working out that means you are pinching a nerve and doing it wrong, a dull ache may be alright but other than that it means you are working your back more than anything and too much of that can result in lower back problems later in life.
