I used to love Gwen Stefanie in No Doubt. Now that she is solo, she turned to pop, it bums me out. I used to love the group Hole, but towards the last album, they kinda went soft on me. I really like the band Garabage but you don’t hear anything from them any more. I was never a big Avril Levigne fan when she first came on to the music scene, but now I totally hate her with all that bubble gum sheet she does now. What a waste.

Gwen Stefani. No Doubt. Ska. Keep it that way..it’s the way to go.

Check out Save Ferris. Their singer has an incredible voice and they are a terrific ska band, a lot like No Doubt. Also, Tip The Van, you can google them is an incredible band comprised of some females.

well wasn’t alternative a thing of the nineties?
Did you like Sarah Mclachlan? I liked her a lot. She was an alternative rocker.

    Old School: 70’s and 80’s

Poly Styrene (singer for X-ray Spex)
    Exene Cervenka (co-singer for X)
    Heart (a two-woman band)
    Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
    Siouxsie and the Banshees

    New School: 90’s and Now

    PJ Harvey (solo)
Brody Armstrong (singer for The Distillers)
Karen O. (singer for Yeah Yeah Yeahs)

That’s all I can think of right now. Hopefully, these are some female rockers you’ve never heard of before.

what about Janis Joplin, Joan Jett, Blondie, Heart? I mean woman have given there contributions to rock as well. If your talking of recent yeah there aren’t too many except maybe christina aguilera other than that there aren’t any tht are popular or important. I wish there were maybe some music for u to listen to, so don’t lose faith in the music business. Might be a while before a new woman singer is popular.

Go listen to a 80’s metal band called girlschool and you will be blown away. If they would have been dudes they would have been huge in the metal world.

What a surprise, a singer turns to pop when she leaves the band.
