I’m considering getting a tattoo on my forearm, and I’ve been toying around with an idea for quite a while. Until recently I posted the request on this forum and someone gave me good idea about using barbed wire. So I have just created a design. Please understand that I am not very good at Photoshop and I will not be able to do very complicated stuff to it. the barb wire in this picture will connect on the other side of my arm.
constructive criticism would be great.
also please give me some ideas for changes I could make to it.
And if someone here who is pretty good at Photoshop or anything is willing to make some changes to the design themselves. Please go ahead…

The idea concept is fine and any professional artist will be able to shape it better you just need to be able to relate the design to them.
My advice is to have the barb wire slightly more slender so that it can flow through O of non and maybe wrap a little around the edges of the letters before twisting away across your arm.
You could also have it slightly bloodied so it looks like it is penetrating the flesh or appearing from beneath the skin.
I am wondering what does the statement Acta Non Verba mean ? (I am an info collecting nut) 😀

it means actions not words, its in latin. oh and thank you, i started screwing arround with it a while later and i made the barbs neater and thinner. and i like the idea of the blood… 😀

I am glad to help – you also helped me I got a new modern latin to english dictionary as well as I realised that mine is about 30 years old and was obviously missing some words.
I found the acta non verba – they meant verba in terms of a strong words (tongue lashing) (verbatum etc).
Bloody thing didn’t show up in my Greek dictionary either on the root so will update that as well.
Anyhow I think you will have a great tattoo and post up pics when done.

thank you, I’ve been toying around with this idea for a while as I stated above… And yes I will post pictures once I get it done, which will be in around six months since I want to be sure that I really liked the design.

Personally I would have it just in script – but it is your tattoo and you are wearing it for life.
The reason i say script only is this – when you are in your teens to 20’s barb wire tatts look cool.
When you are in your 30-50’s it may not look so cool but a text tattoo remains the same.
It is personal choice – I just suggested the barb wire from the design you orig posted and figured if that is your thing then go for it.
Think it over and let us know what you decide.

Personally I prefer Outlaws version of your design, the barbed wire makes the hole thing look a bit garbled in my opinion, however, it is your idea and your choice, you could always add something to the script at a later date though. I’d be interested to see what design you settle for in the end…………………….regards – Karen
