Think of a theme that you want your tattoo to represent…
Or an idea that you want pictured across your body…
Post it here, or talk to your artist about it.
They’ll definitely be happy to throw around some ideas with you.

Jubakuba is right whilst tattoo design sites are good for general inspiration a truely custom tattoo comes from within.
This inspiration can come from a book, museum, art gallery etc.
Once you have an idea of what you want then start to build up the image and get several examples and an artist can draw up something unique to you.

I like http://www.deviantart.com a lot, but like has already been said just use that for inspiration on what you want, what style etc.
Any good artist can draw you up something, but I like to be able to get some examples of what I like to be able to better explain what all I am wanting.
Maybe could even print a few off and show him, “I like this part of this picture, this part of this picture, and I like how this picture does this thing right here…” He/she should be able to incorporate all the aspects you like into one tattoo that really fits you.
