So here’s a bit of background story…
I’m from a town in Russia called Beslan. In 2004 a group of terrorists kept over 1000 people hostage in a local school. Over 330 people including many of my close friends and my cousins died. I really want a tattoo to honor their memory. Fortunately I survived and I want to get a tattoo of the “tree of sorrow”, which is a statue that guards the Beslan cemetery where the victims are buried. I’m not sure where to get the tattoo or if it’s even possible to get. Is this a good idea of a tattoo?
Here are some pictures of the statue… feel free to look it up as well.

this will be my first tattoo.
thanks for the help.
That’s such a terrible story and I am so sorry for your loss.
That is a beautiful statue though, and I can see why it means so much to you. I’m not a tattoo expert but from what I’ve seen they can be more complex than that. It probably depends on how big you are prepared to have it, or whether you need to have it exact photo like representation. For example, would you be prepared to have some of the children separating and flying separately? This would make it clearer
I think it looks doable if it’s largish and you don’t need all the detail. Failing that you could take one aspect (eg one child/woman) of it and produce it more faithfully?
Hope this helps, and my condolences again
poesy
I don’t want it to be too big. I’m thinking I want it on my shoulder blade… so it can be pretty big but not huge to where it takes up most of my back.
that would make a sick tattoo BUT it will not look right and will be muddy unless you do it BIG.
I would do it in a back piece would look good
If you want it on your shoulder, maybe pick one of the child angels and do that in detail? Or, if you want the whole thing, maybe do it in a more abstract, sketchy style? Lose the detail but keep the outlining etc?
