so far the worst part of my sleeve is the shaving. my tat guy does a very good job of inking, and a very good job of shaving. Now that some time has gone by, and the hair is growing back, I am getting all these ingrown hairs. Maybe it is because i have red hair? or just a wuss. Now, i am getting more work on the sleeve and more shaving of all the re-grown hair. The ingrown hairs hurt worse than the tattoo. And the ones under the ink, you cant screw with them and set the little hair free ya know.
Well I had a very rough Monday at work and thought this might straighten it out. Thanks for letting me vent.

Poor guy…be sure to lube up. They need moisture from lotions. My favourite is Jergens with Shea Butter. It’s very soothing. I have very sensitive skin and I have problems with shaving in general. This always gives me the relaxation I need. Try it and good luck with your day.

thanks. i have been using “tattoo goo”, but not a lot. my tattoo guy likes Curel, but that burns. Tattoo goo doesnt. i guess i will use Curel and just tough it out.

instead of shaving why not try waxing?

seriously a couple of days before your next session wax your arms.

firstly you wont get dirty big thick hairs on your arms. and second i think there is less trouble with ingrown hairs from waxing.

obviously dont do it until your tat is healed.

Only thing you have to take into consideration with waxing is if your skin is TOO sensitive for it. Mine is. I break out into either rash or acne with waxing. So you may want to try a small patch of skin/hair before going through with waxing. It’s always good to be prepared.

well most of the ingrowns are gone now. i went back to get more work done to my sleeve last Thursday. the tattoo artist could care less about them. he colored right over them, some of them quite bloody. in the end, it all worked out fine. now just ten or so more hours of work on the arm and i should be done enough to show the world. after i wait for the scabs to heal.
